After the basketball game....
Emma: Let me tell you what's been going on. You deserve to know.
Emma wipes a few tears on her sleeve and takes a deep breath.
Emma: So, my mom's work is in trouble. Everyone took a pay cut, so she had to get a second job to help us pay the bills. I had to help somehow, which led me to a job at Admiral Burger. I applied to the one across town so my mom could easily drop me off. That's where I've been going.
Sammie: Aw, Emma, I understand. That's okay. People don't exactly bring up money a whole lot.
Emma: Yeah, I was also ashamed....everybody jokes that people who fail at life flip burgers.
Sammie: I don't think you're failing at all. Your mom is lucky to have a daughter like you.
Emma: Thanks for understanding, Sammie. You're the best.
Sammie: Of course, I'm here for you anytime.
Emma: Well, I guess everything's been so stressful with Principal Isa and stuff. I didn't want to make things worse with my problems.
Sammie: You wouldn't make it worse, Emma! It seems like you worry about that a lot.
Emma: Just be patient with me. I'm scared of losing friends.
Sammie: I'm not going anywhere. Believe me. We all want what's best for you.
Emma: Sometimes I need reminding. I'm glad I can count on you, Sammie. But I...I'm not sure I'm ready to tell anyone else the family stuff yet. Is that okay?
Sammie: I won't say anything until you're ready. But I do think everyone would only want to help.
Emma: Ahh, I feel like the hundred-pound weight I've been carrying is finally gone.
Sammie: That's what I'm here for. So no more secrets?
Emma: No more secrets.
Sammie hug Emma tightly.
Sammie: I know you've been around, but I feel like this is the first time I've really seen you in weeks.
Emma: Me too. Hiding is exhausting.
Emma presses a light kiss to Sammie's lips. She grin from ear to ear.
Sammie: Oh! I've missed that, too. You know what this calls for?
Emma: What?
Sammie: A trip to The Golden Griddle. Let's celebrate over milkshakes.
Emma: I have so much to tell you. There's this guy who taught me the true secret to perfect French Fries....
Sammie: All right, you have to teach me immediately.
Emma: Only if you tell me what's been going on with you!
Sammie: Well, brace yourself, because a lot has happened.
The ladies head to The Golden Griddle, laughing and talking into the night.
Later that night at the golden griddle....
Sammie and Emma are seen sharing a milkshake.
Emma: Careful. You remember the last time we shared a milkshake, we finished it in seconds.
Sammie: Yeah....but we made it work though....
Emma sighs.
Emma: Sammie, I-I'm really sorry about everything that's happened. Seeing as how what you just told me about what happened during the game, I'm kinda glad I missed it....I mean, I would've loved to come see you play and support you. It's just--
