Back For You | Jemi Short Love Story

Twenty Four

This is a short story now, the next couple of episodes are gonna be the last ones.

Weeks had gone by and Joe was showing no signs of improving but he also wasn't getting any worse. The hospital had found out some information about the virus from other hospitals around the world who had returned people of their own who had the virus. They haven't found a cure yet but they did know that it wasn't contagious so he was now allowed visitors, he was even awake to speak to his family but extremely weak. He could barley lift his head up. Today would be the first day Demi would see him, they didn't know with her being pregnant whether it would cause anymore problems but she insisted that she would go in and tell them if anything started to occur with her health. She sanitized her hands before entering the room. She saw he boyfriend laid on the bed his eyes open but he looked shattered and weak, as if he was close to death.

"Demi." He mumbled but Demi shushed him as she wondered over taking hold of his hand, he didn't even have enough strength to close her hand in his.

"You'll be okay, don't worry about anything." Demi replied kissing his forehead but he knew different, he had spoke to Kaylee.

"I love you." She heard him faintly say, she couldn't help but start crying at how weak he was, she had never seen him like this before. He was usually so independent, wanting to do everything for himself but at the moment he didn't even have enough strength to lift his head up never mind demanding that he was okay and that he could do everything for himself.

"I love you too, so much." Demi replied letting out a small sob when his eyes closed. She squeezed his hand a little tighter just so he knew that she was still here but she let go of his hand when his body starting shaking harshly and a team of doctors burst in including a nurse who took her hand leading her out of the room but still Demi's eyes didn't leave the man she loved more than anything until the door closed behind her.

"You can't be in there at the moment, a doctor will be out to explain what is going on when they are done." She spoke softly but Demi could hear the sympathy in her voice as if she knew that Joe wasn't going to make it through this virus.

Demi slumped down on one of the chairs trying so hard to bloke out the noises coming from inside of the room but it was hard. She felt her father take her hand but that didn't even help that much. Eddie didn't say anything to her, knowing that no words in the world would make her feel better unless they were coming from Joe's mouth.

"He's gonna die for good." Demi mumbled.

"You don't know that Demi, everything that has happened over the last month or two has been unpredictable and so is this. Joe has always been a strong man and he won't give up without a fight." Eddie tried to reassure her but he knew that it was no good. She didn't have much faith in Joe making it anymore. Not after everything that had happened.

"I'm sorry there is nothing we can do anymore, he's gone," A doctor explained a sympathetic look on his face "You can see him and say goodbye if you wish, I'm sorry for your loss." Demi let out a sob holding onto her father's hand a little tighter, she got a small rub on the shoulder by the doctor before he walked away but she let go of Eddie's hand crying into her hands Eddie now rubbing her back as he let a tear slip from his eyes.

"He's not gonna come back for a third time!" Demi cried.

"Mommy!" She heard looking to her side her eyes widening when she saw a little girl running towards her a towel wrapped around her shoulders catching the beads of water which were dripping from her head. The girl made her way over giving her the biggest hug but Demi didn't move her arms or any part of her body from shock.

"K-Kaylee." Was all she could manage to choke out.
