She dances with the peacocks like a child and suddenly acts normal when she sees him. The people in Kanak Bhavan suddenly act all interested the moment Sita is in the mansion.
Rama could tell his Siya was being odd. She was always a talkative little parrot. Now, he feels as if she's going silent in comparison. Sometimes she gulps down words that she was just about to say.
'Do I still know Siya that well? Is she really changing?' Rama wondered as he sat before the mirror. 6 Years of his marriage had been nothing short of joyful. Rama was deeply attached to her. Hardly ever had Rama felt the need to worry being misunderstood by her. She's accurate when it comes to reading him. Perfectly accurate.
She knows exactly which clothes he likes to wear and which ones he wears because the rest are already worn. She knows exactly which food he loves and which he eats because food has already been made and he isn't someone to make a fuzz.
Recently, it has begun to seem like her forehead shines with the red brighter than before. Is she putting darker sindoor?
"Rama..." Kaikeyi called him the third time and his attention snapped to his stepmother.
"I'm sorry. I was thinking about something and missed what you were saying." He told her.
She sighed, "What is going through your head? You seem distracted."
"Nothing. Why did Pitashree request me to be here? It seemed like he wanted to talk about something specific."
Kaikeyi smiled. She showed him certain portraits of Princesses. "Which one of them is pretty?" She asked. Dashrath entered the room. Rama stood up in respect and touched his feet. Dashrath smiled brightly and patted his son's back.
"Do tell which one of them looks pretty." Dashrath insisted.
Rama stood confused. "They're all beautiful, Pitashree. I'd say that all women are pretty. I haven't seen a woman who isn't beautiful. Why wouldn't Shakti be beautiful?"
Kaikeyi laughed, "My beautiful child, that I am aware that you think of every woman as lovely. Even if some can be like Tadaka..." Kaikeyi commented, "but you can't marry all women."
Rama was taken aback at that. "Marry?"
"Yes. Maithili is still like a little girl."
"Pitashree, did Siya do something extremely silly? But that's unlikely. She's always been Maa's brightest prodigy. She's usually quite intelligent in her behaviour. I don't understand what about Siya is the problem?"
Kaikeyi almost burst into laughter at his sudden protectiveness towards his young wife.
"Oh, we all do love our sweet Vaidehi. She's the apple of our eyes, yes. Just as rest of our daughter-in-laws are. Urmila, Mandvi, and Shrutakirti. They're lovely little girls. The problem is that they are too young and you're not."
