33. I promise!!

Neil opened his eyes and it took him a minute to realise that he is in his house, in his own room, lying on his bed. He sighed as he remembered the past few hours of his life. How bad he felt when he saw Mini in that condition, bitterly crying for her best friend. And then, all of a sudden, the flashes of him losing consciousness in the car came in front of his eyes. What happened afterwards, he had no idea. He tried to sit, very slowly, as his arm was paining and he literally felt very weak. He noticed that his arm was neatly bandaged and there were drips inserted in the back of his hand. He frowned, feeling the worst with all those equipments upon himself. As he settled, he noticed Mini, sitting on a chair beside him. Her head was on his bed as she was sleeping. He smiled slightly at how her face was radiating pure innocence. He knew fully well that she must be extremely tensed for him, specially after their incomplete phone call. With his other hand, he caressed her hair lightly and as if feeling his touch in her sleep, she immediately woke up and straightened herself to check him if he is fine or not. 

Mini (almost a whisper): Neil...

He smiled at her.

Neil (to make her smile): I am fine, wild cat.

And the next moment, she cupped his face and kissed him. He widened his eyes in surprise for a moment, but the next second, he placed his hand on her cheek, responding back. He could feel her agony, tension, pain through the kiss and he provided all the assurance and love through the same. They broke the kiss and looked intensely at each other, remaining in the same position. They kept caressing each other's face for the next few moments, lost in each other's eyes.

Neil (in almost inaudible whisper as his breathing pattern changed): I.. I am fine.

And she immediately started hitting his chest with her fist.

Neil: Arrey!! Maine kya kiya? Why are you....

Mini: Why? Why did you do this to yourself? I hate you Neil Oberoi!! I hate...

He felt a sudden pain in his head and he flinched.

Mini: What happened? Neil... shit!! I'm sorry..

Neil: I'm fine.. Just headache for some unknown reason...

Mini: Unknown reason? Are you serious? Agar tum uss jagah 5 minute aur rehte you would have... you would have died!! You understand what it means? How can you be so careless Neil Oberoi? 

She stood up and poured water in a glass for him so that he can have medicines. All the while, he was continuously looking at her. He knew that the past few hours were already too much for her to handle and he worried her even more. He placed the glass on the side table and held her hand when she was adjusting the duvet over him. She looked at him with questioning eyes. He gestured her to sit and then, he slowly embraced her. She closed her eyes, finally feeling peaceful after such an emotionally tiring day. He caressed her hair and closed his eyes too.

Neil: How did I reach back home?

Mini: Long story.

Neil: Long night.

She sighed and broke the hug. 

Mini: Pehle tum batao, kya hua tha?

Neil: I was feeling weak and kind of dizzy isliye maine car ko ek side pe park kiya and that's when you called me. I tried to speak but then, it was all blur and I don't know a single thing after that. 

She glared him.

Neil: Don't look at me like that. It wasn't in my control.

Mini: It was, it definitely was. Agar tum first aid le lete toh yeh sab hota hi nahi.
