15-20 Years prior to storyline.
"But I don't need to take a bath!" A younger boy named, John Marston whined out loudly, vocalizing his distress to be clean. "John I hate to tell you but soaking in your own sweat is not another form of cleaning yourself." A woman named, Josephine; or rather called, Josie quipped.
Johns face scrunched up. "Honey don't you be making that face at me. You're the one who smells like death warmed over." She scoffed and he sniffled dramatically and looked up at her with puppy eyes. "Go walk your dirty ass down to the river and clean it." She ordered and he let out a dramatic sigh and stormed down to the river complaining about his life.
"Hello Josie." A bright blue eyed man said to her, and she looked over and smiled. "Hello, Arthur." She greeted the man and turned around to grab a bowl John had spilled. "John giving you issues?" He asked with a slightly chuckle.
Josie grinned and shook her head. "He's the only amusement I have around here anymore." She said and put the bowl with the other dirty dishes. Arthur hummed. "It's been weird without you coming out with us all the time." He said softly and looked over at the ground. She smiled sadly and patted his back.
"It's ok, Arthur. Maybe you and I can go out and do something together sometime?" She suggested and he immediately nodded. "Go fishing or rob a stagecoach maybe?" He proposed ideas, and she smiled in response. "Sounds good." She agreed and he smiled shyly, "You talked to that Mary at all lately?" She asked and he blushed. "I er. I dunno why?" He asked looking at her. Josie smirked and shrugged. "No reason, but-" she started to prod but was gut off.
"Josie! Can you come here for a minute?" Dutch called and she turned around to see him hanging his head out of his tent and looking at her. She threw a hand up and nodded. "As I was saying. There ain't no reason, but you've been looking real... happy? Lately." She said and quirked a eyebrow at him suggestively, and he grumbled something with a bright red flush coloring his cheeks.
"We've been talking." He admitted and looked down at the ground sheepishly, and she smirked feeling a pride.
"Josie!" Dutch called out and she rolled her eyes. "I'm coming give me a damn minute!" She called back, and looked back to Arthur and smiled softly. "I guess I better go see what grump ass wants now. I'll see you later, and can you check to make sure John cleaned himself please?" She asked him as she turned away and he nodded, "Thanks." She thanked and headed to the tent with the leader.
Josie walked up to the tent and leaned against the entrance pole. "Finally deciding to bless us with your presence?" Dutch mumbled and she rolled her eyes. "Nice to see you Josie." Annabel said softly and Josie shrugged.
"I wanted to let you know we won't be needing you on the train this Friday." He informed and she stiffened. "What?" She said confused. "Annabel said she'd help." Dutch explained and Josie furrowed her eyebrows.
"Oh." She said but didn't say anything else, and Dutch nodded and looked at her. "Well ok." She said and stood up walking off.
"Josie?" Dutch called behind her and she looked back at him. "No hard feelings?" He reassured and she shrugged.Josie walked away and her head nearly exploded. Now Annabel was taking her place on jobs? What was her point?
Annabel took over all of her jobs. All, of them. She literally stumbled around camp and that was it.
She's known Dutch since she was 14 and he was 16. He and her left, and then somehow the gang formed. Her and Dutch used to have more than friendly times together.
"Josie?" Hosea broke her from her thoughts. "Hosea? What's my point?" She said suddenly and the blonde man looked taken aback a bit. "What? Are you ok?" He snorted and asked, but his face fell slightly seeing her look over at him with a dead serious face. "What do you mean?" He asked confused and led her over to the other side of camp where nobody was at and the two sat down.
