(Y/N)'s week off is full of unexpected events.
——————

Your first day back to school was... nothing like you expected.

As soon as you entered class, the first thing you noticed was Viney's empty seat. At first, you thought, maybe she's running late. But then the bell screamed, students filed into class, and there was still no sign of her.

Maybe she's sick?

Unlikely. You knew that she could easily heal herself from any common mold or cough. So something must have happened.

Once you get out of class, you finally see her. Just down the hallway, on the way to your next destination. You wave at her, and when Viney spots you, she waves back with a grin. However, something odd that you noticed was the gray sleeves of her uniform. You now have a rough idea of why she wasn't in class today.

"Viney?! Don't tell me you got sent to the detention track?! You'll get dumped into the pit!"

The witch laughs sheepishly, rubbing the back of her neck and lowering her head in shame, "Yeah. Whoops, haha. And don't worry about the pit, I found a way around it."

Your brows furrow in concern, "Why're you getting sent there anyway? What happened?"

"Funny story actually." She says, "You weren't there but, we were doing practice procedures in class and I brought Puddles in with me as an assistant. Principal Bump walked in just as she crashed through a wall."

"Oh my Titan." You sigh, "Viney! I told you that bringing a beast into the healing workshop would get you in trouble!"

"Well— yeah but I didn't think it would be this much trouble! And plus, Puddles meant well! Principal Bump just didn't give her a chance."

You frown, "How long are you staying there? You're like, the only person I talk to in class!"

Viney's expression is apologetic, but she manages to smile through it, "I don't know. He didn't say... sorry, (Y/N)."

She laughs guiltily as you physically and mentally deflate.

The next day, (B/N) needed to borrow Emile.

"Sorry, (N/N). Captain Salty told us to be prepared for a potential emergency flight because of today's bounty mission. I'm the only one in the crew who never brings a staff, so I know he'll be on me about it." He explained, frantically hopping around on one foot while he tried to pull a shoe onto the other. He was gonna be late if he wasn't out the door in the next five minutes, which was why he was in such a hurry. He wasn't even able to eat breakfast.

"Emergency flight..? Will it be dangerous?" You ask through a mouth full of cereal. (B/N) once told you that 'Emergency Flight' operations were the safety procedures the crew would follow in the occurrence of a ship wreck. The fact that he had to be prepared for one this time around caused a sense of unease to settle in your stomach.

(B/N) finally manages to secure his boots and makes a mad dash to the coat rack for his trench coat, "It'll be fine. Probably." Once the coat is on he checks himself in the mirror to straighten his appearance, "Anyways I gotta go. Can't ruin my perfect attendance record— where's Emile— EMILE!"

The palisman in question pops out of (B/N)'s coat pocket and chitters.

"Ah. There you are." (B/N) gives the centipede a head-pat. Your brother makes his way to you and gives you a giant bear hug, lifting you out of your chair in the process and spinning you around, "MUAHAHAHAAAA!"
