The hybrids have been here for more than two weeks. It seems like they have always been part of our people. They have adapted completely and quickly. Toruk Makto helps with the fishing and sometimes the clan's conflicts. This fallen war chief finds himself living the life of an ordinary fisherman. The wild mother has become more moderate, she spends more time with the women of the village but remains discreet, it is difficult to get more than one sentence out of her mouth. Despite their adaptation and impeccable behaviour, that little feeling that tries to warn me of future danger persists.

"What is she doing?" Gailk asks, pointing to a shape in the shallow water.

I squint and make out the oldest Toruk Makto girl lying in the water, looking at the sand.

"She's looking at the sand!" Roxto laughs, which makes the other boys laugh.

"Let's go, let her count the sand grains." I say as I walk away.

The boys don't agree.

"She's weird.

What?" Kiri asks as she sticks her head out of the water, looking confused. "What are you saying?

Aren't you some kind of monster?" Ao'nung asks.

He's asking you if you're a monster!" Roxto adds his two cents.

Kiri stands up and answers with her head down. "No." In a small voice before walking away from them.

But obviously, they're not done yet.

"Are you sure? You're not even a real na'vi. Look at your hands." Ao'nung tries to grab Kiri's right hand but she dodges just in time. Ao'nung determined to mock her finally manages to grab her hand. "Y/N look at that!

Stop it!" A voice rumbles from the beach. Lo'ak approaches us looking threatening. "Move, fish-head.

Another five-fingered monster."

I can't help but smile at my brother's remark. Roxto grabs the forest boy's tail and pulls it.

"Look at his little baby tail!" He laughs.

Lo'ak turns around and forcefully pushes Roxto. He takes several steps backwards.

"Don't touch me." He articulates between his clenched teeth.

The boys surround Lo'ak and start pushing him and pulling his tail, mocking him. I know exactly how this is going to end. I sigh as I watch them push the forest boy harder and harder.

"Did you hear what they said?!" Neteyam quickly arrives to help his brother by pushing my brother aside.  "Leave them alone.

"Here comes big brother t-" Gailk starts as he takes a step forward but I stop him by placing my arm in front of his chest.

"One more step and I'll slaughter you." He points his finger at his chest to threaten my little brother. "Back off."

I quietly taunt Ao'nung, who raises his hands in the air in surrender. Kiri sticks her tongue out at the boy. Which makes me smile. The siblings of the forest turn and leave, while the boys next to me continue to talk about the family.

Lo'ak having heard the murmurs of the boys, decides to come back to us despite his brother's advice against it.

"I know my hand is weird. I'm a monster, an alien." He places his hand in front of Ao'nung's face, who smiles, "But my hand can do something nice. Look, it closes to make a tight fist." He closes his fist. "And-"
