Adalyn's POV

Brie and I sit at the edge of the dock with our feet hanging in the water, talking and having a laugh while waiting for the others.

"Hey! Look who I found!" Elara screams from the house. We turn around to see Kaia standing next to her.

"Kaia!" Brie pulls her feet out of the water and starts running towards them like a little child on a visit to the candy store.

"Where did you go off to?" I ask once they meet me.

"I just had some stuff my mom asked me to do." She seems nervous for some reason, but I choose not to ask.

"Um...okay. You're sure you're alright though?"

"Yes. I'm perfectly fine." She isn't lying, but she asks her next question as though she is hiding something. "Why wouldn't I be?" Her voice is high-pitched and her hands are shaking-

"Cannonball!" Michael comes running straight between us and jumps into the water, completely soaking us.

"Michael! What the fuck!" Brie shouts in a playful way. "We're drenched!" The corners of my mouth curve upwards as I push Brie into the water and watch her struggle to swim. I wasn't planning on killing her or anything, I just thought it would be a great opportunity for a moment with Michael.

I hysterically laugh at her splashing in the water, yelling for help. She isn't far from the dock. I can easily save her if I need to but I still hold out hope for Michael.

"Stop acting like a baby." I am about to bend down to help her when Michael heroically swoops her into his arms and returns her to the edge of the dock.

"Are you okay?" She tries to catch her breath to answer him. He moves the hair that is blocking her vision and asks again, but she only stares at him in complete awe of the situation she is in.

"She's perfectly fine. She tends to be a bit overdramatic."

She snaps too. "Overdramatic? I can't even float and you fucking pushed me into the water. Are you trying to kill me?"

I shrug. "Maybe I am. One less child Kaia has to care for."

"Don't bring me into this."

I catch Michael laughing at our conversation before he makes sure Brie is really okay and leaves. I stretch my arm out for Brie to help her out of the water. "You're a bitch. You know that right?"

"Yeah. But I just got you rescued by your crush." She wraps her hand around mine and yanks me into the water with her. When I come up for air, I see the others laughing before joining us. "Look who's the bitch now."

"Well at least you can swim." I splash water in her face, then hold her up while we swim.

We are having such an amazing time. The cold water on my skin is so refreshing. Being here with these girls is better than anything I could ever ask for. "I love you all so much." Brie utters, making it that much more special. I start to tear up a little.
