Adalyn's POV

I woke up pretty early this morning, but Ashton is already missing from his spot on the couch. I pull myself off the bed and drag myself outside to find him making breakfast in the kitchen. He hands me a plate with two croissants, and my cup of coffee, just the way I like it, black. What's the point of drinking coffee if it's diluted with tonnes of sugar?

"Thanks. How long have you been awake? Did you not sleep well?" I ask as I take a bite.

"The couch was kind of small, but it's only for a few more nights." I feel kind of bad for him, but he is the one who got himself into this situation in the first place so I suppress those feelings.

The others soon start gathering in the kitchen. They quickly eat breakfast and then plan on driving into town for the carnival. After everything that happened so far I need to get out of this house. I shower and throw on a pair of jeans and a yellow crop top. Then, I adorn my fingers with the gold jewellery I usually wear.

Kaia, Elara, Lila, Brie and Wyatt took Wyatt's car while I got stuck with the other four. "Okay if I have to be trapped in a car with Natalie, I'm driving." Luca looks at me as if I am going to crash his car. "I am a good driver."

"She's good. You can give her the keys," Ashton nods at Luca and he hesitantly tosses the keys to me.

The drive is surprisingly peaceful. As we pull up in the parking lot, the first thing I notice is the ferris wheel. I LOVE FERRIS WHEELS!

Ashton and I walk a good distance in front of everyone. We stroll along the streets admiring the different booths and activities. Ashton catches me off guard when his arm reaches around my shoulder. Suddenly, Natalie appears next to him and tries to take his hand in hers so she can get close to him, but he refuses. I decide to be nice and help him out a bit, so I grab his hand and place it around my waist instead. He looks down at me and squeezes my hip just a bit, causing me to give a small smile. I kiss him on his cheek, and nuzzle into his side, making Natalie all the more jealous. I can already feel the girls' faces behind me. I am on thin ice. I just keep moving forward and ignore it. My idea was successful because Natalie became so jealous that she stormed off, and Luca went after her. Ashton's glance moves from me to straight ahead of him, not loosening his grip, as we continue to stride through the carnival.

We all want to do something different so we split up into groups.

"Michael, Brie loves cotton candy. You should get her some," Elara nudges.

"Sure. Why not? Brie?" Michael and Brie walk off while Kaia, Wyatt, Ashton and I separate from the others.

"Adalyn, what are y'all trying to do? Why do you keep trying to get Brie and Michael together?" Ashton would not stop with his questions.

"Don't worry about it."

"Hey, we are gonna go off for a while. Are you two gonna be okay?" Kaia asks, knowing the history between us.
