Y/N walked into town wearing his disguise, he walked to the nearest Café and waited until a waitress came out to take his order.
"une bouteille de votre vin le moins cher s'il vous plaît. (a bottle of your cheapest wine please.)"
The waitress smiled at Y/N and left, as she left, Y/N went to light a cigarette but he'd run out of matches.
"Fucking hell." Y/N muttered to himself as he just put the cigarette in an ashtray.
The waitress returned and handed Y/N the bottle and a glass.
"Merci. J'attends un ami, quand il arrivera, nous aurons peut-être besoin d'un autre verre. (Thank you. I'm expecting a friend, when he arrives we might need another drink.)" Y/N said as the Waitress nodded. She left and Y/N poured himself a drink of wine, he took one sip before gulping the wine down.
'No, I think I prefer a good scotch.' Y/N thought to himself as someone walked up to his table and sat down, placing a jar of honey on the table. Y/N looked up at them and saw her...
...Dierdre.
"Y/N, I thought you were in Africa?" Dierdre said in a hushed whisper as Y/N looked liked he was frozen.
"I thought you were in Australia. I came home for a few days and tried to visit you, your father told me you'd left for Australia." Y/N whispered. "Tell me it's not true."
"What, you don't think I have as much a right to risk my life as anyone else?"
"I understand the sentiment, but this. If you were killed, I would never have known." Y/N whispered as Dierdre looked at him.
"Why do you care, you could probably just go and snog a whore in a brothel or something." Dierdre said as Y/N shook his head. "I assume that's what you've been doing when you needed relief-"
"No. I haven't wavered one bit. Do you really think so low of me?"
"You ran off to-"
"I needed to become an officer to get your fathers permission to marry you." Y/N said as he noticed an SS officer approaching.
"Ach, Fräulein Kaiserling. Schön, dich wiederzusehen, hat dir die Party gestern Abend gefallen? Wer ist dein hübscher Freund? (Ah, Miss Kaiserling. Nice to see you again, did you enjoy the party last night? who is your handsome friend?)" The officer said as he pecked Dierdre on each cheek.
"General Panzerslaus. I'm fine, thanks, although I must report that I saw one of your soldiers attack a young woman on the way home, Jager, I believe that was his name. rank of Colonel. I hope he had a reason, I would hate if he tarnished your reputation for discipline. This is a Y/N Stilkopf. Y/N is my friend, he was away in Berlin working to provide supplies to our brave men fighting for us.)"
"Hallo General. Schön, dich kennenzulernen. (Hello General. Nice to meet you.)" Y/N said as he mentally cursed himself when he done a Nazi salute and stood to attention.
"Hallo. Nun, Diana, ich habe mich nur gefragt, ob Sie bereit wären, mich heute Abend zu einer Veranstaltung zu begleiten, bei der die Fertigstellung einer Lieferung neuer Vorräte gefeiert wird. Ich nehme an, Sie wissen von Y/N? (Hello. Well Diana, I was just wondering if you would be willing to join me at an event tonight celebrating the completion of a shipment of new supplies. I assume you know about that Y/N?)" The general said as shook his head.
"Tut mir leid, General, ich sorge nur dafür, dass die Vorräte für den Transport da sind, ich überlasse die äußerst wichtige Arbeit denen über meiner station. (Sorry General, I just make sure the supplies are there for transport, I leave the most important work to those above my station.)" Y/N stated as he looked modestly.
"Nun, nichtsdestotrotz arbeiten Sie daran, sicherzustellen, dass Truppen wie ich Essen haben, das wir in den Mund nehmen können. Ich würde mich freuen, wenn Sie auch heute Abend zu der Veranstaltung kommen würden. (Well, nonetheless, you're working to make sure troops like me have food to put in our mouths. I would be delighted if you would also come to the event tonight.)" The General said as Y/N smiled, knowing there was no way out of this, he nodded.
"Sehr gut allgemein, Sie haben mich überzeugt. (Very well general, you have convinced me.)" Y/N said as he and the General shook hands.
"Nun, Fräulein Kaiserling, Herr Y/N, ich fürchte, ich muss Ihnen einen guten Tag sagen. Machen Sie sich keine Sorgen, Miss, ich werde der Angelegenheit nachgehen, die Sie gemeldet haben. (Well, Miss Kaiserling, Mr. Y/N, I'm afraid I have to bid you good day. Don't worry miss, I'll look into the matter you reported.)" The General saluted and Y/N returned the courtesy. When the General left Y/N looked at Deirdre.
"That was the intel I was going to tell you. Look, they're also finished building a new supply depot just a few miles out of the city. Hitting that could seriously hinder their capabilities." Deirdre said as Y/N nodded.
"I'll send the boys in tonight, gives you and me an alibi. How well do you know him?"
"Not very well, but I do know that he's no idiot, he's like a detective, I've heard he was considered for the top of the Gestapo but he preferred to be out on the front lines. Y/N...Please don't underestimate him. He's just as brilliant as you are. And infinitely more devious." Deirdre said as Y/N smiled. "I believe I can manage. Hopefully I'll be able to procure a dinner suit by tonight."
"I have one in my place, it was left behind by one of my...contacts." Dierdre said as Y/N looked at her.
"Contacts?"
"This is the espionage game Y/N, sometimes we have to do things we're not comfortable with for our country. You needn't worry, I just drug them and give them a few kissed as they fall asleep, when they wake up I tell them some cock and bull story about having sex and send them on their way. I've never actually had sex with them dear. I think of you when I'm kissing them, imagine it's you I'm kissing." Dierdre said as Y/N couldn't believe what he was hearing.
"Where is your place?"
"I hold a room in the hotel just a few streets from here, you can't miss it, it glows like a beacon in the sky when there isn't a raid on. Room 237." Dierdre said as she stood up and grabbed her bag.
"Did...did you even plan on telling me about all of this when the war was over, if we both got home?" Y/N asked.
"Yes, eventually, but one can't look too far into the future in this line of work. Y/N...it's good to see you again love, drop by around seven o'clock for your suit." Dierdre said as she leaned in and kissed him on the cheek before leaving.
After their meeting Y/N returned back to camp, feeling confused, he was pleased to see Dierdre again, but he felt somewhat disheartened by what she had revealed to him during their conversation...
