Chapter 14: Birthday

Charlies pov

I had woken up very excited because today was the day of elles party. I had gotten her the perfect birthday gifts already because I know her so well. I had the perfect suit for the party theme I also got some gloves to go with it. Since the party's a surprise, of course, tao has been taking Elle to different places so she thinks their having a birthday date while everyone else has time to get ready. I take a hot shower to wake myself up a bit and then finally get dressed in the mirror looking at myself head to toe, I feel disgusting just seeing myself. I brush those thoughts aside and get elles gifts out of the closet I look at the dresses, jewelry, sketchbooks, and hairpins I bought her making sure it's the perfect gift for her, I take the giant birthday bag at the corner of my bed and put everything in it. I had a few hours before nick would come to pick me up so I decided to bother tori for a while. I walk downstairs and hear the sound of coffee brewing and pancakes frying on top of the hot stove. I finally make my way to the kitchen and see tori leaning up against the counters with a cup of hot coffee in her hand while Michael is cooking just as I had suspected, pancakes and Oliver on his phone at the table. tori finally looks up after standing and staring into her coffee cup the whole time.

"oh look whos up and looking very fancy." she smiles. Michael turns around and examines my outfit. "wow charlie what's the occasion, you and nick going out?" he asks with a giant grin. I flatten out my suit, " no today's elles birthday, and we're throwing her a surprise party, the themes vintage tea party." I do a 360 in my outfit giving everyone in the kitchen a look. While I'm smiling toris face turns stone cold, "Charlie you know the main point of tea parties is eating and drinking you sure this is a good idea?" she sets down her coffee cup. I stop and get annoyed. "yes tori ill be fine plus it's for Elle and nicks gonna be there ill be fine." I roll my eyes. "Charlie you know you can't keep depending on nick to make you okay, that's not how mental health works." She crosses her arms. "Gosh, tori ill be fine I swear okay I just wanna have a fun day for Elle that's all." She rolls her eyes. "jeez charlie I'm sorry for caring about my little brother." Oliver looks up, "Tori mabey you should let charlie have this one." Tori goes quiet and picks up her cup again and takes little sips to hide the fact she has nothing to say.

The whole kitchen is silent while I'm standing picking at the buttons on the sleeves of my suit. Michael finally breaks the silence, "sooo.. who wants pancakes and eggs?" He smiles placing the plates on the table. While everyone rushes to the table I walk out and go up to my room. I sit on the bed and my phone vibrates. I look and it's a text from nick, "Leaving the house now see you in 5." finally I get to leave. Even though tori and I had that awkward moment this morning was tamer since my parents were working today. After a few minutes of sitting on the porch, I see Nick's car pull up, he rolls down the window, and my heart is about to explode out of my chest already and he hasn't said a word. "hey char." he smiles ear to ear as he gets out and opens the door for me. As I'm sitting next to him he looks me up and down, examining my outfit as I do the same to him. "You look amazing." he smiles as he cuffs my cheeks pulling me in for a kiss. That kiss later turns into a full-blown makeout session right in front of my house. "Wow someone's rather thirsty today." I chuckle while slightly wiping my lips as nick was a little messy with it today.

"Well, you can really blame me, babe." He shoots me a wink before putting his hand on the wheel. I chuckle a little bit "you sound so American when you say, babe." He faces me covering his mouth "What do you mean by that?" he looks a little sad. "Oh not in a bad way I'm just saying your accent goes away a little bit." I explain caressing his cheek sensing I upset him a bit. "oh." he laughs awkwardly and begins driving. I play my playlist and look out the window while nick hums the tunes of the music that's playing.

Nicks pov

We finally reach aleds house and I park in the driveway. I get out and open charlies door for him, take his hand and take him out of the car. He places his hand on my chest "Did you get Elle a gift?" He asks pulling his gift out of the car. "Of course, what kind of friend would I be to not get her one?" "Oh well, I was just asking because I didn't see it in the car." Charlie looks at me puzzled. Everything finally hits me, I left the gift at home! I turn around to charlie slowly and shake his shoulders "I left elles gift at home, I'm such a bad freinddd!!" I sob. Charlie pats my head. "It's alright nick ill just write your name on my gift." "No, it's not gonna be the same char!!" I cry tugging on his suit. He rolls his eyes. "Really nick it's no big deal nick elles a kind understanding person shell forgive you I'm sure of it."

I wipe my tears and sniffle. "Really?" I get up. "Yes nick now stop crying." he kisses my cheek. He grabs my hand and we head for the door already hearing soft music coming from the house. "Are we late?" I look down at him. "Most likely." He chuckles a little and rings the doorbell. Tao answers and looks us up and down. "Charlie. Nick. Your late." He says. Charlie looks at me. "Sorry tao so much traffic it was ridiculous." He laughs. "mmh at least you were only a few minutes late but you missed elles reaction." He sighs. "Tao whos at the door?" I hear elle as she comes to the door. "Oh my gosh nick, charlie hiiii! So glad you could make it!" She pushes tao aside and hugs us tightly.

She's wearing a beautiful floral print dress with short gloves and a pearl necklace. "Happy birthday elle!" I exclaim. "everyone was waiting for you two to arrive so come on in!" We walked inside and it was plain and looked like how aleds house always does until she opened the sliding door to the back yard and it was beautiful. "Oh.my. gosh. This is so coquette!" Charlie squeals. "So what?" I ask looking at him. "Coquette, you know?" I look at him puzzled. "you know what never mind." he sighs. After a few minutes of charlie socializing after we greet everyone and me and tao are standing beside each other awkwardly, "So why did you guys switch out decorations?" I ask awkwardly.

"Wind." He said staring at Elle and I see a pink blush grow across his face. "Gosh your really in love with Elle huh?" I smirked. "Oh hush like Charlie hasn't gotten you wrapped around his finger." He laughed. "But really I love Elle so much she's so amazing and I really don't know where I'd be without her." He said staring at her once again. He looked at me and quickly changed the subject "so uhh when are you and Charlie moving into the apartment you guys got?" He looks nervous. "Oh, we got a moving van to move our stuff in next week I'm so excited."

"We'll I'm happy for you two if you need help we're all glad to help you two." He sighed. "what's wrong?" I ask noticing his sigh. "What?" he looks up. "You sighed." "Oh it's just you guys are all going somewhere with your relationships but me and elle have been the same, what if she's bored and wants someone better." he sighs again. I pat his back and he looks up. "Elles is not like that at all, she loves you so much, and who cares if your relationship is the same think about it if you rush things they're not going at your guy's speed, and who knows what will happen." I shrug.

Charlies pov
me, elle, aled, tara, and darcy were sitting at the table on little pillows with tea cups just talking. "you guys this is the best birthday party thank you!" she claps. We all say no problem. "okay so charlie spill the tea on you and nick moving!" I didn't want to say anything and take the spotlight from elle. " "It's not about me it's about the beautiful birthday girl elle!" I smile and nervously sweat. "Alright charlie we'll let you keep the details to yourself." darcy sticks her tongue out. Truth is me and Nick had bought everything and we had the moving trucks moving everything. Finally, Nick and Tao come to the table. "Oh wow finally look whos here." Aled laughs.  "What took you guys so long?" I ask looking at nick. "Oh we were just talking that's all, so what are you guys doing?" He asks. "Oh I wanted to open gifts but we were waiting for you guys but now we can!" She smiles.

After a long day of socializing, dancing, catching up, and laughing the party comes to an end. "Gosh, I'm tired." Elle sighs wiping her head from the sweat after playing freeze dance. "Me too." I sigh as well gasping for air. "Welp I suppose it's time me and charlie start going home." Nick cracks his Nuckels and lifts me up off the floor. "Yea me and darcy gotta head home to its a long drive yknow," Tara exclaims. We all hug elle, tao, and aled and head home.
