(This episode brings me great happiness 🥺)
"Your father?"
Jiwon nods as she puts on a sweater. "He's coming to drop off my refills is all." She goes to unlock the door.
I sit Eunha back on the couch telling her 'its okay'. I debated to lock myself in the bathroom in order to avoid meeting Jiwon's dad. But then again, he was our head of security detail when BTS debuted. This should be no less than meeting an old friend.
Jiwon greeted her father with a bow. He still looks to be in his 20s, damn.
"Hi, kiddo—oh am I interrupting something?" He walks in a couple steps, looking at me surprised. "Wow, Jeon Jungkook, woow look at you." He scanned me from head to toe. "Nice to see you again, Taekse." I bowed deeply and he did the same in return. "You're all grown up..." his gaze avert down to Eunha now crawling out from behind me.
"This is your daughter?"
"Indeed it is. Baek Eunha, say hello."
Eunha sees Taekse and smiles shyly, then hid her face behind my legs. "Ah she reminds me of you, kid. Shy as ever." He says still staring at her who eventually checks to see if he's looking at her. "She is so pretty, gosh. A magazine toddler."
"Thank you haha." I brush Eunha's hair, admiring her pretty little face. A lot of people have told me that her beauty is out of this world. I'm mad protective over her because of that.
Taekse handed Jiwon a little bag from the pharmacy. "Remember, every six hours, or when you can't stand the cramping."
"Okay."
"And are you up to date with physical therapy."
"Yes dad."
"And cleaning your stitches?"
"Dad!" Jiwon shrieks. I chuckled, "cmon noona, let dad worry. You're going to regret it." I say, making Taekse raise his hand for a handshake. "Thank YOU, Jungkook. Didn't you feel the same about your little girl after the incident?"
"You wouldn't believe the sleepless nights."
"Okay I get it, I will not forget, dad. I won't drive, I'll stay safe." Jiwon blushed. They hugged tightly and it warmed my heart when he kissed her head before he left.
No matter how old they get they'll always be their little girl. Sad day when Eunha reaches that age where she doesn't want me to hug her in public, or show her affection. I want her to stay small forever.
For the next half hour Jiwon and I hid in the kitchen preparing food. We're making pork ramen soup. I diced some green onions while she cut the ham. "Should I make something for Toodles?"
"I'll give her some of mine. That thing does Mukbangs with Jimin."
"Wow. No different from you, the one way to your heart is through your stomach."
For sure I've never been starving when I'm with Jiwon. I let the green onions be then laid against the fridge as Jiwon let the ramen cook. She laid against the counter and folded her arms over her chest. Her cast is full of signatures from the crew, her dad, even Heesung. "Thats so cool. They visited?"
She looks at it, "from time to time they do. All thats left is BTS to sign it. She reaches behind her for a cup that holds permanent magic markers. "Choose your fave color." I pick a black and purple sharpie. She lifts her arm horizontally so I can choose a spot. "I want mine noticeable." I pop the cap with my mouth then begin to sign my name in a retro font. The smell of sharpie alone making me dizzy.
With the purple marker I drew hearts around the final K. "You barely left space for the rest." Jiwon punched my shoulder with her other arm. "They'll find a way." I admired my work then put the sharpies back.
"So, its true that you and Mochi nearly took your emotions to the octagon for the UFC's main event?"
"When you put it that way, I should have made it a UFC fight. We just picked on each other's wounds and got defensive over everything."
Her mouth formed an 'O'. She turned to the stove and began to pour the ramen on to the bowls. The steam hit my face and it smelled so good, I just let out this involuntary moan. I clapped my hand over my mouth, Jiwon's shoulders bounced as she laughed. "What was that?" She asked between giggles.
I could feel the burn of my face spread to my ears, my neck...
"I...I don't know what you're talking about." I grab the onions, evenly putting some on my bowl then hers. The hard boiled eggs were next, then ham, finally she put a lid over the bowls so the ingredients could soak in the ramen. "You guys know things do not stay the same forever."
"A little late, but we're getting there."
"Good. Do me a favor, please take this bowl for me." She hands me her bowl so she can go in the fridge and grab some drinks. I set everything at the table then realized it's so silent in the apartment. My daughter is nowhere to be seen. "Oh Toodles?" I call out. When I don't hear a reply, a loud thud from down the hall startles me.
I swear to the Gods.
"Baek Eunha, right now." I go down the hall to the only open door that happens to be the bathroom. On the floor is a trail of talcum that leads to a walk in shower, and it is my little monster all wet in her costume. Toothpaste sticking to the glass and the shower head detached and spraying at her.
At a loss of words I tangled my fingers in my hair trying to get words out.
"Eunha what have you done?!"
She stands up innocently, her drawn whiskers now smeared over her cheeks. "Thats spicy." She holds up the empty toothpaste. "You ate that?"
"Noope," she points to the shower walls and glass. I put my hands together in a prayer to contain my desire grab her by the legs and swinging her across Seoul. At this point Jiwon shows up to see the commotion. "Oh noooo." She scans the bathroom.
"Jiwon, I'm going to jail."
"Why?"
"Cause imma destroy this kid."
By the back of Eunha's costume, I lifted her and heard the water drip from her feet. Her arms and legs spread out like she's sky diving. "She looks like roadkill from my angle." Jiwon grabs a couple towels, setting them on the sink. Is she even seeing the same mess I am? I've underestimated her level of patience. It is ungodly. My respect for her grew 3000 times.
As much as she nagged me to come eat first before cleaning the bathroom, I wasn't going to eat knowing there's a mess. Jiwon's apartment is pretty lavish compared with our dorm. I feel like everything I touch is priceless, especially part of the living room that is what I call a Boutique.
As I wiped toothpaste off white tile walls, Jiwon cleaned the talcum on the floor. Which I strictly told her not to. But here we are in the bathroom, cleaning Eunha's mess and eating pork ramen. To others it be the grossest thing ever, but if I ever had to eat in a bathroom it be this emerald city of a restroom. Polished as hell.
Jiwon changed Eunha into a new outfit from my backpack so now she quietly sits where I can see her. Right beside me.
"Floor clean," Jiwon sits on the toilet and eats from her bowl. "Hey petunia, eat up before it gets cold." She tells me. I sighed, but my hands smell like toothpaste and makeup.
Jiwon takes my chopsticks and brings ramen, ham and egg mushed together. She brought it over to me, and so I slowly opened my mouth. Her cupped hand under my chin to catch anything that falls.
Her face was so funny and jolly.
"Oo Jungkook, are you free on halloween night?"
"I don't think so."
"We're going out. If they keep you indoors I'll sneak you out." She smirked and continued to eat. I didn't even have to answer. Cause I was definitely sneaking out either way.
