"I told the crew I'd be at my parents."

"And the guys?"

"They know where I am." My back faces Jiwon, my fist hiding the square golden packets of condoms Tae sneaked into my hoodie pockets. I subtly shoved them into my jeans without her seeing it.

I switched the button inside my mask making the LEDs outside of it turn on. I put it over my head then put my hoodie. This is probably a terrible representation but my costume is that of the Purge: Election Year. I decided to wear a mask so I don't need security with me. And because they don't know about me being here.

"You look so cool."

"I think I'm...ok.." the words left my mouth with a whistle. I lifted my mask to see Jiwon in her nasty killer Lady  Liberty outfit, also from the Purge. She had a bat wired with spikes at the tip, then brought to my sternum threateningly.  "Please don't, Ill be your best friend." I surrender my arms and she just smirks,  "if you weren't so cute."

She gives me the bat.

"Lets take a quick photo," Jiwon lifts her phone on selfie mode. One with our masks on, for the second we simultaneously lifted our masks. My arms crept their way around Jiwon's waist from behind. It gave me great relief when her hand rested over mine. Our cheeks crushed together for a few pictures.

"Now where are we headed tonight?"

"Itaewon is throwing a big halloween party. Wanna do that?"

"Then what are we waiting for," I threaded my fingers together with hers and we were out. We parked at a decent distance from Itaewon to avoid traffic. We pulled our masks down once more people began to bump on to us. Out of instinct I reached around Jiwon's shoulders to prohibit other from accidentally hitting her ribs.

"Cheers to us," we clink our shot glasses.

The liquor felt hot riding down my throat. After paying for it, we followed the crowd of people heading toward a stage where people are dancing. We stopped when it was impossible to get through. Everyone around us danced, either together or alone, or in groups.

"Lets dance pretty Kookie."

"If you insist, noona." I twirled Jiwon, placing open palm on her upper back to gently dip her back.  "If it hurts, don't be shy to tell me." I whispered, smirking under my mask. Jiwon didn't reply, only huffed mischievously.

The music began to pick up to a faster tempo in a matter of seconds. People were getting wild in here and we're practically dancing on top of each other because its so packed. There orange and neon confetti's falling from the sky and if you looked up all you see are arms up in the air.

I started to getting more into the music, letting go of Jiwon to freestyle. I hit those moves with all the intention to grab attention. A circle began to form as more eyes took notice.  "Yo yo wait up, we got a pro up in here. Come up."

"Oh no." I cussed. I didn't expect the singers at the stage to notice. Just don't take off the mask, Kookie. Or we're dead. I grabbed Jiwon's hand to walk her to the very front of the crowd.  "Stay here."

"Okay." She says.

I hopped on to the stage where a man dressed as the devil came to me.  "What is your name dude?"

Fuck.

"Taekse." I lied. Shit, shit.  "Oh ok ok Taekse got some sick moves. Who think they can beat him in a dance battle." He roared and the crowd went nuts. The singer pointed to the many people raising their hands and a woman dressed as a maid climbed up the stage. Great, time to send this girl back home.

"And your name is?"

"Sage." She simply answered. The singer stood between us and put the mic to her.  "What is your preferred dance style?"

"Steppin."

The crowd reacted to that positively. Step dancing? I've never done that. The devil singer put the mic to the mouth of my mask.  "And what you good at, purger?"

"Everything," confidence booming through the air.

Ooof.

"But, for the lady, I'll step too."

"He's a gentleman, brothers and sisters! Let's get steppin."

I stood back with my arms folded giving the woman the stage. She threw her heels aside then walked around to feel the beat of street hip-hop playing. As soon as this girl began moving her arms all over the place in rhythmic dancing, my jaw dropped inside my mask. Its explosive.

When it was my turn I opened my arms to take it in the crowds cheering, surprising them with some slow motion mechanical movements. Thank you Jimin. I needed to become Hoseok and completely go ballistic in the world of dance. My hands patted every part of my body as I stepped  with all my might.

The girl scoffed, completely forcing me to step back by stomping forward dominantly. I put my arms up, bobbing my head giving the signal I am not intimidated. I folded my arms in front of me as this girl danced her heart out like its Stomp the Yard. She's smiling and happy, even when she's in my personal space taunting me.

"Aight boy finish this."

With all the sass in the world, I wiggled my index finger at the maid as if she doesn't got this. Imma bout to rock her world with my years of torture of being a trainee and American Hustle life. I did the craziest krumping I learned all those years ago in LA. Everybody screamed, throwing their arms around as well. Like the girl did to me, I got up close and personal and threw some dances that could kill ARMY.

"Oh my goodness GIVE it up!"

I breathed heavily as applause broke.

"These two are the best dancers we've had in forever. But we need a winner, ladies and gentlemen. Let me hear it for Maid in China."

The crowd went ballistic, I applaud for her as well, she did amazing. The devil singer moved to me,  "how about Purger?"

Same energy as the womam, though Jiwon took her mask off to raise it up in the air.  "Lets hear it again for Maid." The singer now focused on the reaction, which was loud loud. Then me, it was loud, but hers stood out more.  "Give it up for our winner Maid in China." He roared.

The woman waved and smiled before offered to shake my hand.  "Good job, your dancing was incredible." She says.  "You were amazing too, keep at it." I told her. Finally we were allowed to get off and return to the crowd.

"Kookie!" I heard Jiwon call out for me. I saw the liberty mask in the air so I followed it until I got away and out of the crowd.

Jiwon jumped on me for a hug, at first I was terrified that it hurt her. But she didn't hiss or complain, only wrapped her arms around neck, so I returned the hug.  "You were incredible." She says.

"Think so?"

She pulls away to face me hut my mask is in the way. It was lifted to the top of my hood now revealing my face to her. Then she gave me a kiss. Not a peck. A real kiss on the lips, with hints of peaches and soda from earlier. The feel of her mouth, soft and warm against my own sent sensations surging through my body. Rather than pulling back, I held her even tighter as the taste and touch made my head spin.

When we broke apart, I drew a deep breath, as if surfacing from the depths. Jiwon's lashes fluttered open and the look in her eyes matched my own. Simultaneously we leaned in for another kiss.

We may or may not be thinking the same thing. If you know what I mean.
