"Prince, don't look at the nominations list." Lea said sternly. "What? Am I not on the list?" Jisung asked nervously. "What? Of course you are, you are at the top of the list. It's just that you don't need to see the list, who even cares who else is nominated, they all don't stand a chance against you." Lea replied with a shaky voice. Jisung pushed past her and looked at the nominations posted on the announcements bulletin board. Just as she had said, his name was first on the list, but right underneath it was 'Minho Lee'. Jisung ripped the list off the wall and crumpled it before throwing it in the trash. "I-It's okay Prince, we have nothing to worry about." Lea said nervously. "Yeah? Tell that to your face." Jisung said angrily. He wasn't wrong, Lea's worry was written all over her face, complete with little beads of sweat on her forehead. "Well winning the athletic competition will really help you secure your much deserved win. And Minho is probably not even competing in that." Lea said. Jisung pointed to the sign up sheet for the athletic competition where Minhos name was listed a few slots under his own name. "I didn't have to win the competition last year to solidify anything. Last year I was a shoo-in. Are you telling me I am not this year because of this one guy?" Jisung said. "No you don't HAVE to win... as long as he doesn't win. Because if he wins... that's when we need to worry." Lea said frankly. Jisung stomped off towards his dance class. He walked in and didn't say a word to anyone and just began stretching. "This Friday before winter break we are doing a hike together as a class as a way of team bonding. It is mandatory so I better see all of you here bright and early Friday morning ready to get on the buses." The dance instructor said at the end of class. "The athletic competition is on Wednesday and now this on Friday too? I can't get away from that damn guy." Jisung said to Hyunjin, talking about Minho as they met and walked together after his dance class. "Don't worry Jisung, you will definitely win the competition." Hyunjin said. "Who said I'm worried!" Jisung snapped angrily.
It was finally Wednesday and Jisung had barely spoken or looked at Minho since Monday when he saw his name on the Prince ballot. They were both in their dorm, dressed and ready for the competition when Minho suddenly extended his hand saying "Good luck today, let's just have fun out there." Jisung looked at Minhos hand and then walked out the door without a word. All the participants met on the field to get ready for the three areas of the competition. Weight lifting, hurdles, and 100 meter sprint. After the announcer told everyone to get to their starting positions for the first event, Minho walked up and said in Jisung's face "I thought we were past your bad attitude but I guess I was wrong. I just signed up for this for fun but you've pissed me off so believe me I won't go easy on you today." Jisung could feel his blood boiling with anger but in the back of his mind was also a tinge of fear. The participants all went to their labeled bench presses for the weightlifting portion of the competition. Jisung came out on top of the weightlifting competition but it wasn't over yet. Because there was 3 events, the winner of the entire competition was best 2 out of 3 so Jisung still had to get the best score in one more event to be victorious. The next event was hurdles, not Jisung's strong suit. He began to get nervous as he looked at Minhos powerful legs as he geared up for the hurdles. And sure enough, Minho beat Jisung in the hurdles. Jisung was beginning to sweat nervously, he had to beat Minho in this last event to win the competition. Although Jisung was nervous for the overall outcome, he began to get more confident as he thought about how he got up and ran every morning while Minho slept. This was an advantage that Jisung had, he had trained for this while Minho had not. They began the sprint and Jisung was immediately surprised to see Minho keeping the same pace with him. As much as he tried to pass him he couldn't pull ahead any further and they were matched for a while before Minho had a last minute burst of energy, propelling him forward across the finish line. Jisung stayed in a daze as they announced Minho as the winner and handed him his trophy. A girl ran up to Minho afterwards and said "Wow Minho, how do you still look so good even sweating, like a real life Prince." Jisung's heart dropped as he heard this girl call him Prince, he knew she didn't mean anything by it but just hearing Minho be called that, sent Jisung into a spiral. He ran off the field and practically all the way to the dorms.
