Despite König leaving for the infirmary only moments before you, you almost had to break into a sprint to catch up with him.
Just one of his normal strides was equal to two, perhaps even three of your own. The man was insanely tall so you supposed it made sense but even still....
"Thank you for agreeing to help fill in these missing records, König."
You gave him a warm smile and glanced up at him.
His cold grey eyes briefly flicked down to you and then back up ahead.
"I did not have much say in the matter."
"No, I suppose you didn't. But thank you anyway." You laugh lightly, trying to ignore the rising tension that was accumulating in the pit of your stomach.
Before long you both got settled into the infirmary, you sat at your desk and logged in to find the files you needed to update.
When you did find them you signaled for König to join you at your desk and look at your computer.
" See all these blanks? I need details for each one." You tapped the computer screen, pointing at each blank box in the soldiers files.
"Why." König responded. It wasn't a question, more of a statement.
"Well because if you ever get hurt out in the field I need to know your history so I can help you better." You replied with a smile.
König regarded you almost suspiciously for a moment and stared back at the computer screen.
"Hm..."
You gesture to the chair opposite you and wait for him to sit, eventually he does, but the small desk chair seemed to groan under his weight.
"Ok so let's start from the top. You've more blanks on your file than Ghost and that's saying something. Name?"
"König."
"No, your actual name?"
"I don't see how this helps you look after me better." The soldier replied coldly.
You cleared your throat, the weight of Königs stare threatening to sink you into the ground.
"Yeah I guess I can't fault that logic. I'll just put your call sign in for now...says here you're 32, is that correct?"
"Ja."
"Born in Salzburg, Austria?"
"Mhm"
"Any allergies to medicine or food?"
"Nein."
"Aaaand your blood type is AB Positive?"
"Yup."
You confirmed the details that König gave you and pushed yourself away from your desk, walking over to the nearest medical gurney. You could feel Königs eyes studying your every move in an almost predatory way which sent a shiver down your spine.
You shot him a reassuring smile as you lay out a couple of supplies, ignoring the unfamiliar feeling of being scared by your own team mates presence.
"I doubt you're going to give me any more information even if I say pretty please, so let's move onto the physical." You stated with a warm smile.
Instantly you saw Königs entire body tense up, his gloved hands clasping together in unease as you turned and gestured for him to hop up onto the bed. He didn't move an inch, simply continuing to stare at you. You gestured again to the bed and raised an eyebrow.
"König?...Come on, the sooner you do this the sooner you can leave."
With a heavy sigh you watched the enormous soldier haul himself out of the chair and over to the bed, his icy grey eyes seemed to look through you, unfocused, uninterested, cold.
You grabbed your stethoscope from the table by your side and hooked it into your ears, noticing in your peripheral vision how Königs shoulders were tensed in anticipation.
Despite his awkward and rather unapproachable demeanour you honestly felt sorry for the guy. It didn't take a doctor to see his anxiety was through the roof. König didn't want to be anywhere near your proximity, you'd already been told by Soap and Horangi that he hated doctors to the extent of not even meeting the previous medic on site.
Pushing the overall awkwardness of the situation aside, you got back into your professional headspace and laid the stethoscope against Königs chest. His pectoral muscles twitched slightly at your touch and his eyes glanced at you briefly before shifting to one side. Honestly you couldn't help but silently admire the sheer amount of work that this man must have put in to get the physique that he had, under that black shirt he was absolutely solid.
"You've a strong heartbeat, very strong in fact."
You smiled gently as you briefly caught Königs gaze.
"Not a beat out of place, let's move on, shall we?"
You withdrew the stethoscope from Königs chest and couldn't help but smile when he released a small gasp of air, you realised he'd been holding his breath the entire time you'd been listening to his heartbeat.
"Next up is your blood pressure, ok?"
At this point you may have well been speaking to yourself, König was pretty much unresponsive to your attempts at conversation. You slipped the inflatable cuff over his hand and worked it up his bicep, struggling to get it where it needed to be from the sheer size of your patient. You'd had a similar experience trying to take Ghosts blood pressure the other day, it seemed the majority of the men on the base were stacked and, despite it impeding some of your medical processes, you found it very amusing that your standard equipment didn't seem to be designed for such a hunky group of fellas.
"Blood pressure is all good too, so far you're a picture of perfect health!" The air hissed out from the pressure cuff quickly, unable to maintain its shape around Königs huge arm. König wiggled his fingers slightly, allowing the circulation to come back into his digits properly before clamping his hands together and bringing them to rest on his thighs.
You put your equipment back away swiftly and sat back down at the desk to log the information you gathered throughout Königs physical examination, clasping your hands together with a loud slap upon completion.
"Ok, I think we're as up to date as we can be right now on your physical, there's just a few blanks on your psychiatric evaluation left to fill ou-"
Finally you looked back up from your computer, a very confused frown creasing your forehead as you scanned the infirmary.
König was no where to be seen, managing to slip out of your office while you were busy filling in the last of his credentials...for a man that big you honestly didn't think it would be possible.
Yet here you were, alone.
