What's going on...
What happened to me?
What...what happened to Dove?
Where...am I...The sounds of various medical machines became steadily clearer in Königs ears, his eyes cracking open as he attempted to take in the surroundings. At first the lighting in the room was almost blinding to him and the soldier almost regretted opening his eyes fully.
König briefly glanced around, trying to make heads or tails of what had actually happened. The Austrians head was a jumbled mess of memories that he wasn't actually sure were real, right now as far as he could remember he had gone on the mission to take out the Russian arms dealer.
The mission had gone completely tits up at some point, König gathered that the moment he looked down at himself and saw several thick layers of bandaging wrapped around his body. His icy grey eyes flicked over his own body as he shivered, becoming increasingly aware of the pain he was in. Every muscle ached, his head throbbed and most noticeable was the ever-growing stabbing sensation tearing through his shoulder and abdomen with each breath.
The increasing speed of his heart rate monitor caught Königs attention. This room was too bright, the machines aiding him were too loud and the feeling of the bandages wrapped around his body didn't agree with him either. König squeezed his eyes shut again, forcing himself into taking a steadying breath against the dangerous level of overstimulation that he was experiencing. If he could move in that moment then the mountainous soldier would have got up and ran out of the room as fast as his legs could humanly carry him.
"König..?"
An all too familiar voice caught Königs ears, instantly easing his growing anxiety. The Soldier turned to face you, his tired and bruised eyes softening the moment they met yours.
"D-Dove?"
Your heart sank hearing how broken König sounded. Despite his usual laid back and relatively soft spoken voice, this time was different, he sounded so weak.
You were quick to be by his side, taking one of his huge hands into your own as you rubbed the back of his hand with your thumb."How're you feeling, big guy?" You failed to suppress the emotional tremble in your own voice.
Königs tired eyes flicked over your features quickly, even in this state he almost seemed to be trying to drink up every possible detail about your features that he could. It was like he'd missed you, even in his unconscious state.
"Y-You're ok...I'm so glad..."You gave his hand a reassuring squeeze,
"Of course I'm ok, I'm more concerned about you. How're you feeling? How...how much do you remember of what happened?"You felt a lump form in your throat as you asked the question, so much had happened in the last mission; the complete breakdown König had, you abandoning your station by his side to help the other soldiers...the two of you sharing a kiss...
Königs eyes narrowed slightly in thought, his gaze briefly flicking up to the ceiling tiles above his head as he attempted to jog his memory.
"I remember...der Kampf- s-sorry, the fight...you left me...ran away."Your heart sank as you heard how sad König sounded, that was how he remembered it? You running away? Abandoning him? You drew a breath in to speak up when he continued.
"Nein...N-no, you went to...to go help? Roach...I remember, Roach got hit...is he ok?"
You quickly nodded your head, your fingers gripping a little tighter around Königs own hand.
"That's right, Roach got shot, he's fine, don't worry."
