Cyrene ran towards the training grounds after changing clothes once again, this time in fresh school robes. Several students were standing next to brooms in front of a witch with grey hair and hawk-like yellow eyes.

She went and stood next to a broom with the other students. It was very quiet since everyone was so nervous. Ben, who was next to Cyrene, looked like he was going to faint. The witch spoke and everyone turned to her.

'Welcome to your first Flying Class. I will be your instructor, Madam Hooch.' she said.

'I've been dreading this class all summer...' muttered Ben.

'You're afraid of heights?' asked Cyrene.

'Falling from heights, mostly. I told you I come from a Muggle family. The idea of flying on a broom is terrifying.'

Before Cyrene could answer, the lesson began. They both turned towards Madam Hooch to begin their flying lesson. Ben was still muttering to himself.

Cyrene managed to successfully summon her broom. It flew into her hands after a few tries. By some miracle, Ben managed to stay conscious the whole lesson.

'Well done. You now know how to summon your broom. Class is dismissed.' said Madam Hooch.

Cyrene was very glad Ben looked a lot relieved now that Flying Class ended. She kept watching him in case he passed out during the lesson.

'Madam Hooch said quite a lot about falling to our deaths...' said Ben. 'Though I suppose I don't have to worry about falling if I never actually fly...'

'You just need to get used to the idea of flying, Ben. I'm sure Rowan has some books about flying that we can borrow.' said Cyrene.

'But it seemed that Rowan has already left.'

'I actually need to update Rowan on my encounter with some Devil's Snare. We were both too preoccupied with summoning our brooms to have talked about it just now.' Cyrene remembered.

'I was preoccupied with avoiding Merula Snyde.' said Ben. His face looked pale again.

'I have unfinished business with Merula, too.' said Cyrene.

'But Devil's Snare sounds even more terrifying than Merula.' Ben looked even paler now. 'Even coming across a sprig of Dittany has been known to catch me off guard.

Eager to calm Ben down again, Cyrene changed the subject. 'So where do you think Rowan might have gone?' she asked.

'Perhaps to the Courtyard? Rowan has asked me to play Gobstones there, but I'm afraid I'll get sprayed.' said Ben.

'Sprayed?' Despite growing up in a wizarding family, Cyrene rarely did anything to do with magic.

'Rowan can explain. You should play Gobstones with her!' said Ben.

'I could use a bit of fun... I'll look for Rowan in the Courtyard now.' Cyrene said goodbye to Ben, and headed towards the Courtyard to look for Rowan.

Cyrene found the Courtyard empty except for Rowan. She was sitting in front of the fountain reading a book. There was a Gobstones set in front of her. Rowan got up as soon as she saw Cyrene approaching.

'Did Ben tell you I've been looking for a mate to play Gobstones with? I'm so glad it's you!' she beamed.

'But Rowan, you left our Flying Class so quickly. Are you all right? said Cyrene.

'Yes, I was just energised by all that learning!' said Rowan. 'I realise I was so focused on the lesson, I didn't even ask if you got back our House Points.'
