Cyrene, Rowan and Penny spent the next few days going over and memorizing the plan. Rowan seemed to get more anxious and nervous as the day to enter the room comes closer. She could not concentrate on her classes like she used to. She nearly fell off her broom in Flying Class at their first attempt at taking off to the skies.
One evening after she classes, Cyrene rushed off to the West Tower to meet with Rowan and Penny. However, just as she was passing by Dumbledore's office, she gets stopped by Filch.
'Where do you think you're going?' he asked.
'Nowhere, Nowhere special. Nowhere I'm not supposed to be going...' Cyrene quickly answered. She regretted her answer as fast as she said it.
'You're Jacob Lennox's sister, aren't you?'
'...Yes.'
'Your brother was one of the nastiest little rule-breakers this school has ever seen. I was sad to see him expelled.'
'You were?' Cyrene always thought the only emotion Filch ever felt was anger and frustration.
'I was. I missed my chance to hang him from the ceiling by his wrists.' said Filch. 'Now I have a second chance with you.'
'I'm not like my brother, Mr Filch.'
'You're a liar is what you are. Mrs Norris saw two Hufflepuffs lurking in a forbidden corridor. I'm guessing one of those Hufflepuffs was you.' Filch glared at Cyrene.
'I don't know what you're talking about...' Cyrene lied.
'You won't be going anywhere without me an' Mrs Norris knowing...'
'I told you I'm not a rule-breaker like my brother, Mr Filch. There's no reason for you or Mrs Norris to follow me.' said Cyrene.
'We'll see about that...' Filch walked away while looking back at Cyrene every few seconds.
As soon as Filch was out of Cyrene's sight, she went to assemble with the others in the corridor. Rowan and Penny were already waiting for her.
'This is so exciting!' exclaimed Penny. 'I've been wondering when I would get to go on my first real Hogwarts adventure...'
They looked ahead and saw Mrs Norris guarding the door menacingly. Cyrene wondered if she would bite others.
'Is everyone ready?' she asked.
'I brought every potion I could imagine being helpful in this situation.' said Cyrene.
'I spent all night studying maps of this section of the castle, and going over the plan, Cyrene. I'm as ready as I'll ever be.' said Rowan.
'We should hurry. Filch or Snape might return any minute.' said Cyrene. 'Penny will keep watch to make sure no one is coming. Rowan will give the Sleeping Draught to Mrs Norris while I use Alohomora to unlock the door.'
'I've read a lot of books, but none of them explained how to make a cat drink a potion.' Rowan thought aloud.
'I mixed it with milk. Just pour it on the ground, and she should lick it up.' Cyrene thought Rowan would have studied about a cat's behaviour while discussing the plan.
Rowan walked closer to the door and poured the milk and potion mixture onto the ground. Then, she walked back to the others to not be seen by the cat.
'I imagined myself doing all sorts of things at Hogwarts, but I never thought I'd be giving a cat a Sleeping Draught...' she said.
They all watched silently as Mrs Norris licked up the milk and gave a low growl before passing out.
'Brilliant plan, Cyrene! You have a real gift for this. If wizarding doesn't work out, you should really consider burglary.' Rowan joked.
