Chapter Eight.
After a big win on their opening game of the premier league season, the recovery today was a chill one for everyone. The team had worked extremely hard to achieve the win so to wind down and relax was on everyone's cards.
Recovery was a success for everyone and everyone was able to go home easily.
Elizabeth locked her office and made her way to find John. He had given her a lift to work today so she was hoping he was ready so she could go home and rest.
Her birthday was tomorrow and she wanted nothing more than a quiet night by herself before her friends and family drag her into the celebration antics.
Elizabeth entered the indoor pitch and stood by the benches. She had some of her books close to her chest as she watched the boys practice their shots.
Erling, John, Jack, and Phil were attempting to get shots past Kyle and they were doing a good job. Kyle was shit in goal and it was amusing to watch.
Her eyes were quickly able to find the Norwegian and she watched as he stepped up and took his shot. He kicked the ball and it powered into the middle of the net, almost taking Kyle out with it.
"Are you trying to kill me." Kyle shouted, with a scared expression on his face.
Elizabeth couldn't help but giggle at the sight, which caught the attention of the boys.
"It isn't funny Liz." Kyle spoke.
"I mean he has a powerful shot, what do you expect." she spoke in between laughs.
"She's got a point." Phil backed her up.
Kyle took the gloves off and threw them on the floor, "Last time I go in goal."
Elizabeth couldn't help but laugh at him. He was the most childish person she had ever met, and she had a young niece.
"So what's the plan for tomorrow?" Jack asked the girl.
Jack knew the plan.
Everyone knew the plan. They had a surprise party set up for Elizabeth and they couldn't wait.
"I'm not sure, probably just a chill one." Elizabeth spoke.
"It's your birthday tomorrow and you want a chill one." Phil spoke, raising his eyebrow.
"That's what I said."
Erling watched as the three of them got into a fight about her birthday and her plans. He had bought her a gift but he wasn't sure if it was appropriate to give to her, seen as he's only known her a few weeks.
He felt like if he gives her the gift it will help him confess his feelings towards her. Well that's what he was hoping for.
"bro back me up, tell her she needs to come out with us tomorrow to celebrate her BIRTHDAY." Jack spoke, smacking Erling on the shoulder.
He really did emphasise the world birthday.
"It's her birthday Jack, let Elizabeth decide what she wants to do." Erling spoke, defending the girl.
She smiled up at the man, "See! My birthday, my rules."
"thank you." she spoke, staring up at the tall human.
Erling smiled back and nodded.
All of them finished up and made their way back to their cars. While Elizabeth sat in John's car waiting for him, he quickly gave one last debrief to the boys before getting in and making his way home.
"please do not go over the top tomorrow." Elizabeth sternly told her cousin.
"I'll try my best, but can't make any promises." He sheepishly responded.
She rolled her eyes and stared out of the window, she knew he would, and she wasn't sure if she needed to be scared or excited.
