Chapter ThreeElizabeth hasn't eaten with the rest of the team and staff since she arrived. A few of the players had arrived back with injuries and their international teams hadn't told them about so she had to deal with that. It was nothing major, but she still needed to put recovery plans into place.
It was 4:32pm and Elizabeth sat with her dinner in her office typing away on the computer. She had a lot of write ups to do, and she did not want to fall behind. There was a lot of work to do, and she couldn't stop until it was finished. She had her work cut out that's for sure. But she wouldn't have it any other way.
Back down in the dining hall the players and staff were all sat around eating food and chatting away. One of the boys had connected his phone to the speakers in the room so the Top 40 was quietly playing in the background of their conversations.
"Does anyone know who's replaced Darren, I haven't seen them yet?" Ederson asked.
"She's in the office, I seen her before I came in here. There's paperwork stacked up everywhere on the tables. She looked rushed off her feet bless her." Bernardo spoke.
"Does anyone know if we'll get to meet her? As it'll be nice to see who's Darren's replacement."
Before the table had time to reply, Elizabeth walked into the room with her clipboard, pen and phone in hand. Her glasses were hanging on the end of her nose as she looked up to find Pep Guardiola.
She made her way over to him and began to explain to him the routine/plan that she had prepared for the boys with small knocks. Pep stood up and greeted her with a warm smile and a hug.
"Fuck off is that her." Cancelo whispered in shock.
"Who else is it going to be?" Riyad whispered back.
Pep stood up and tapped a glass to silence the room. Everyone fell silent and all eyes were on the two of them. The nerves were hitting Elizabeth more than ever, especially in this moment. Don't let these nerves show. Is all she kept repeating in her head.
"Right then lads, this is Elizabeth, she is Darren's replacement for the rest of the season, please welcome her with open arms. she's here now to discuss with you the physio and recovery plans for the next few days." Pep loudly spoke.
He smiled at Elizabeth and took his seat again. She took a deep breath before looking up at the room, she had so many eyes on her. This was quite scary for her, she had never spoke to this many people before, she could not fuck up.
"Right, so tomorrow morning, there will be recovery for Jack, Kyle, Rodrigo and Kevin who came back with knocks. Then after training we shall go over the recovery plans for all of you, as you will be put into different areas of the ground to do so." Elizabeth spoke.
John sat there with a small smile on his face as he watched his cousin present what she needed too. He knew that she was able to do this, and he was just so proud of her. Her dreams were finally falling into place for her.
"Any questions?" Elizabeth asked the group.
No one raised their hands, instead they all just looked at her.
"Great, well I'll see you all tomorrow morning."
She gave the group a small smile and quickly walked out of the room. She let out a sigh she didn't even realise she was holding in. She was glad that was over.
"She is stunning." Nathan spoke.
"Bro she's so fit." Kalvin Phillips spoke.
"And that best be the only thing you lot are thinking." Kyle Walker spoke.
"What do you mean?"
"She is John's cousin, and you know what the code is not only on members of the team but the family code as well."
"How the hell do you know she's John's cousin?" Rodrigo asked.
"She spent some time here last season, and she works with the England team a lot. I spent some time with her, she's a quiet girl but lovely when you get to know her."
All the boys listened to Kyle as he explained more about Elizabeth and what she did for a living. He told them everything he knew about his best friend. Nathan did some stalking and found her Instagram and all the boys had followed her. They still couldn't believe how gorgeous she was. They couldn't believe she was related to the Yorkshire defender.
Back in her office, Elizabeth sat down in the comfy chair in the corner and let out a sigh she didn't know she was holding in. she was glad that she didn't have to do much public speaking until tomorrow. It was one thing that she hated so if she could avoid it at all costs, she would.
"How was that?" John asked as he entered the room.
Phil Foden was right behind him, he closed the door and sat next to John on the small sofa opposite the girl. He had been dying to catch up with his best friend, and the god mother to his children.
"Nerve racking." Elizabeth laughed slightly.
"You did really well girl, everyone seems to like you already." Phil spoke with a small smile.
"Oh, so that's why my Instagram is blowing up."
Phil laughed, "yeah some of the boys wanted to follow you and have taken a liking to the new pretty girl on the block."
"Wait, what?" John questioned.
Phil and Elizabeth couldn't help but laugh at the facial expressions of Gareth. For a man that was in his late twenties, he really was quite slow when it came to these types of things. It was entertaining for the both of them.
"Seriously you two just gang up on me whenever you are together." John spoke, laughing slightly.
"You just don't get half of the shit we say." Phil laughed.
"So, do some of the boys fancy her or something? Because if I need to do the protective cousin talk I will."
Phil laughed, "Some of them just think Liz is fit, and you don't need to worry, I've given them the protective best friend talk, and so has Kyle."
"J, I'm not looking for anything and even if I was. I wouldn't go for one of your teammates." Elizabeth spoke, smiling at him.
"I know you wouldn't. but these horny little adults don't know how to keep it in their pants."
Elizabeth looked at Phil before staring at John and laughing. She loved how John tried to be protective of her but would often fail miserably.
It was very amusing for her, and she loved to wind him up about it.
