It had been a while since Elizabeth had the ball at her feet. The last game she played was three weeks ago, her busy schedule had gotten in the way. She was excited to finally be playing again.
She had her chance to go pro like John when she was Fourteen, but she turned it down. Even though football is something she loved, she knew she had more potential than that. She didn't want to follow in John's shadow. She wanted to create her own.
"Thoughts on todays game?" Sarah asked her friend.
"They are usually tough but they are without some of their key players today so should be a good one." Elizabeth responded, eating her grapes.
"Is John coming?"
She nodded.
"And Erling?" Sarah quietly spoke.
Sarah was very much aware that the two had finally established feelings and just like Elizabeth she kept it on the low. Her best friend wanted privacy and she would never shout it out for the world to hear. Especially since the rest of the team were Man City and Haaland fan girls.
"I didn't tell him about it."
"Why not?"
She sighed, "He doesn't even know that I play."
"Girl he's bound to have seen your story, he's going to question one of the boys about it."
"I just didn't want the fuss." Elizabeth mumbled.
"Do you think he'll come with John, Phil and Jack?" Sarah asked.
"I don't know, John didn't say anything in his message."
