Chapter One.six in the morning.
A tired, stressful night.
Elizabeth was excited her night shift was over.
Working extra long shifts was not something she wanted to do.
But her dream was to become a doctor/ physiotherapist and working night shifts in a hospital was something she needed to do.
Her university course had started three weeks ago, and she was sworn with work after work.
It was tiring, but it was worth it for her.
She walked out of the 24-hour coffee shop with her iced coffee in hand.
She took a deep breath and started walking back to her apartment block.
She was tired, and she could not wait to get into her bed.
As a nineteen-year-old living in a city like Liverpool by herself, walking in the early hours of the morning felt so calm and relaxing.
For once, it was not busy central, and she loved the peace and quiet walking home.
Her headphones blasted Taylor Swift as she walked down the streets of Liverpool, in her scrubs, quietly humming along to the music.
A facetime call from her beloved cousin interrupted her walk home. She accepted the facetime call and her cousin's annoying face popped up on the screen.
"John, what do I owe this pleasure?" Elizabeth asked.
"Why are you even out walking at this time?" John quickly asked.
She held her phone up and showed him her work clothes, "because I've just finished a night shift at the hospital J."
"Oh shit, I forgot you were on nights this week."
Elizabeth shook her head, "I know you didn't ring to talk to me about my shift pattern, so what is up?"
"Ok, so one of the doctors on the city team has had to go on leave as he's broken his back and he obviously can't work, so myself and the team were wondering if you would step in for him? As his replacement until the end of the season"
"You know I will, I just need to clear it with the hospital here and get the university work for weeks I won't be there, and I should be fine."
John smiled, "Oh I already sorted that for you, your university work will be at the flat for when you arrive."
Elizabeth smiled, "How did you know I would say yes?"
"Because you love me as well as city."
"You aren't wrong."
I guess she had a few suitcases to pack.
Spending the remainder of the season with her cousin and the rest of the team didn't sound so bad.
Elizabeth was quite excited.
But she was more excited about going home than seeing anyone.
She missed home.
Home was Man City.
And she couldn't wait to return.
It had been far too long.
