Lydia woke up and she found herself in the same place as two weeks ago. Her best friend had passed away along with her father shortly before Christmas and Lydia had to admit that she wasn't too psyched about heading back to school. It was January and school was starting again. She saw Scott and Stiles once in the last two weeks, but in general they stayed their distance. Stiles did message Lydia a lot, but she rarely answered him. She heard her phone beeping while she exhaled and looked at it. Stiles, she though.
Reminder – meet up with Ally for sweet 16 planning!!
Lydia exhaled as tears burned in her eyes. Her 16th birthday was coming up, but suddenly she didn't feel like doing anything. One of her best friends were gone and she couldn't even get out of bed during the holidays. She shook her head, pinching her eyes to stop the tears, as she got out of bed. Lydia had decided to get dressed in a baby blue floral dress pairing it with black heels while she braided her hair. She heard her phone buzzing and hoped it wasn't another reminder. It wasn't. It was Stiles calling her and she instantly smiled.
"Stiles, morning," Lydia said while Stiles shook his head on the other side of the phone call.
"Finally! Seriously, Lyds? After the first week I freaked out wondering if you were okay," Stiles said as Lydia exhaled.
"I'm sorry. I had a lot to deal with," Lydia said.
"Are you okay? Are you coming to school today?" Stiles asked.
"No, idiot. I'm up at six for the fun of it. Yeah, Stiles, I'm going to school. Do you mind picking me up? I wanna give Scott some time alone for a bit," Lydia said.
"Already on my way, Lydia," Stiles said ending the call.
Lydia looked at herself in the mirror. Yes, she was sure that she looked absolutely beautiful, and on any other day she would have told her that today is the day she was going to tell Stiles that she loves him and his since third grade. But something stopped her. Was it the reminded that kept her mind going to Allison or was it something else? Lydia shook her head while she saw a picture of her and Allison on their last first day of school in freshmen year. She smiled as she dragged her fingers over the picture.
"I love you, Allison, and I'm going to make you proud," Lydia said.
She headed downstairs while seeing her mother drinking coffee. The funeral of Alexander Martin and Allison Argent was just a few days ago, yet it felt unreal. Lydia grabbed an apple quickly eating that while she just swallowed a glass of water. She knew that her mother didn't say a word because she was also still processing the death of her ex-husband. But Lydia didn't have enough time to say anything to her mother. She heard a hooting, grabbing her bag, and headed out of the house. She saw Stiles' jeep and smiled while she jumped in and met his golden eyes.
"Hi," Lydia said as Stiles smiled.
"Hi. Ready to take on this day?" Stiles asked as Lydia nodded.
"Yeah, let's go," Lydia said.
Arriving at school, Lydia and Stiles looked at one another. Out of the many things that would happen neither thought that Jackson and Malia would be waiting for them. Lydia exhales while she jumped out of the jeep and was immediately met with Jackson.
"I heard about Allison. I'm sorry for your loss," Jackson said as Lydia looked at him, biting her lip, not caring if he saw.
"I'm sorry about how I acted towards you. It wasn't fair towards you and I'm sorry," Jackson said.
"What's Malia Tate doing here?" Lydia asked.
"I came to speak to Stiles. If he's not ignoring me," Malia said.
