It happened. After her mother's accident, Natalie along with Scott had convinced Lydia to have a huge party to celebrate her birthday. But Lydia didn't know what she wanted. She and Allison had partly planned the huge and extravagant party with hundreds of guests and everything that Lydia could ever wish for. But this was before everything changed. Before Allison and her dad died. Before her relationship with Jackson blew up. And before Stiles Stilinski kissed her. The kiss of weeks ago were still clear on her mind, but Lydia chose to ignore it for now.
Lydia, Stiles and Scott were in Stiles' room going through everything that could go wrong or that could happen at the party. After the year of sorrow that Lydia had, Scott wanted to make sure that she had the time of her life. But he didn't know how Stiles felt about her. Lydia laid on Stiles' bed going through a few names while Scott looked at him.
"I'm heading down to the kitchen. Who wants something to drink?" Scott asked.
"Definitely not my dad's beer. He'll have a fit. There is hot chocolate and coffee," Stiles said.
"Does the nearly birthday girl want some hot chocolate?" Scott asked as Lydia nodded.
"I'll make for all of us then," Scott said going out of the room.
Stiles laid down next to Lydia in the bed while she went through the names. He looked at her. In that moment, with the moonlight shining through his window, Lydia looked beautiful. Her natural beauty was glowing in the moonlight while Stiles knew the girl needed little to make her truly look beautiful. Her hair was up in a ponytail while she had no makeup on.
Lydia was on her way to bed when Scott told her that they would be going to Stiles' to discuss her party the following night. She hated the fact that he told her after she removed her makeup, but it didn't matter to her that much anymore. So, Lydia joined him, and when they got there, Stiles had every book out that he could have with names of people that could be invited to the party.
"You know this is going to be the party of a lifetime? Turning sixteen is usually very special," Stiles said.
"I just wish that Allison was here," Lydia said.
"Me and Scott are though. And we'll make sure it goes smoothly," Stiles said.
Lydia closed the current book she was busy with as she moved forward to where a different book was. She didn't notice how close to Stiles she was. She didn't care at that moment to look at it. Stiles moved so he was on his left elbow while he looked at Lydia. She finally looked up at him biting her lip. They were inches away from each other. Stiles slightly moved forward, he wanted to kiss her. He was inches away from her lips when he heard Scott yelling.
"Stiles! Where the hell do you keep the milk in this small kitchen?!"
Stiles moved back as he bit his lip. He exhaled as he stood up while he was on his way out of the door. Stopping at the doorway, be looked at Lydia. She shook the moment off that just happened and continued to go through the list of people. Stiles exhaled as he went downstairs while he saw his best friend.
"Fridge. Where we usually keep the milk," Stiles said as Scott looked at his friend, getting the feeling that something had happened.
"Did something happen between you and Lydia up there?" Scott asked.
"Almost. But she brushes it off like nothing happened. How? The tension between us is killing me, Dude. And I've been feeling it for a while. She never says anything," Stiles said.
"She likes you too. If that's what you are telling me. Her heart races when she's around you. More than it should. Tell her tomorrow," Scott said.
"You can't tell someone on their birthday that you like them. How... Perfect that wouldn't be. Listen, Scott, I need to make sure of what I feel first. She's been through a lot, so I want to make sure that she is ready for something like this first," Stiles said.
