Lydia did it without fully realizing it. She fell more in love with Stiles. She and Scott were busy watching a movie, The Notebook. It was one of Allison's favorite movies and today it was suitable to watch it. It was the day when Scott and Lydia met Allison. Lydia exhaled while watching Noah and Allie kiss while the moment always seemed like a good one. She looked over to Scott who was distracted, for reason she didn't know. She ended the movie as she looked at her best friend.
"Okay. What is it? You have stars in your eyes. Who is the girl?" Lydia asked as Scott exhaled.
"Didn't know the banshee could read minds. You're gonna laugh at me and Stiles will be furious at me," Scott said as Lydia laid down on her bed on her stomach looking at him.
"Malia Tate," Scott said as Lydia looked surprised at him.
"Slap me," Scott said.
"How? How did you guys fall?" Lydia asked.
"She didn't. But I did. It was just a few days after Allison's death and she came to see me. She was kind and sweet. Told me that Allison was truly one of a kind. We bonded. She's a were-coyote. We can relate a lot. She's learned to control it as well," Scott said as Lydia smiled.
"You guys bonded because you are so similar," Lydia said, smiling.
"She hangs out with Jackson from time but agrees that he's an ass," Scott said as Lydia smiled.
"Stiles has a crush on her," Lydia said as Scott shook his head.
"He's developing feelings for someone else," Scott said.
Why can't it be me? Lydia thought to herself. All she did was give Scott a light smile when they heard someone in the house.
Lydia looked at Scott as he jumped up and immediately transformed into a wolf. He could sense danger. And he didn't like any of it.
"You know that we can't always be there for the people we love, right?" Noah said while his son drove through the streets.
Stiles had a good feeling that something was going on and he wasn't wrong. He knew that. But he felt like something bad was happening to Lydia. He knew that she and Scott had their friendiversary today and would watch the same movie they have been watching for years. But when Scott didn't answer his phone, Stiles' suspicion got confirmed that something wasn't right.
"Scott would answer his phone. So, I am not going to sit back and wait for someone to call me and say he and Lydia are dead," Stiles said.
He arrived at Lydia's house and could immediately see that something was wrong. There was a car parked outside. A car he has never before seen. He saw as the front door was wide open and through the window, he saw as Scott was tied to a chair while Lydia was standing in the room with a man.
"They're in danger," Stiles said as he jumped out of the car.
"What do you want?" Lydia asked, the man pointing a gun at her while Scott sat, tied to a chair.
"For you people to pay for what you did."
"What... What are you talking about?" Lydia asked, her voice shaky while it seemed like Scott couldn't get free.
"A werewolf and his human best friend. Won't this be fun," he said.
Lydia closed her eyes as the man put his finger on the trigger. Scott looked at his best friend remembering something about her that they didn't think of.
Scream! Lydia, scream!" Scott yelled.
Lydia screamed. But this wasn't her usual scream. It was her banshee scream. The glass of her window shattered, as Stiles fell to the ground behind the door, holding his ears closed. He pulled his dad down while Lydia kept on screaming. As she stopped, she saw as the man had fallen to the ground. She exhaled as Stiles and his father came into the room. Lydia ran into Stiles' arms as he held her tight while Noah untied Scott.
"You're okay. You're okay," Stiles said, trying to console his friend.
"Scott, you good, Buddy?" Stiles asked as Scott nodded rubbing his wrists.
"Arrest him. He isn't dead. His heart is still beating. Lydia, are you okay?" Scott asked.
Lydia didn't answer him. Instead, she held tight onto Stiles. Stiles nodded as his best friend while looking as the man had woken up, stepping back, not allowing Lydia to see any of it.
"You are under arrest for holding two teenagers hostage with a weapon. By California Law, you are allowed to get a lawyer. If you cannot afford a lawyer, state will..."
Lydia heard as Noah went through with everything while she held on tight to Stiles. She didn't want to see any of what was happening. She felt as Stiles took her hand and dragged her out of the room. He didn't want her to see any of what was happening. He exhaled while both of them and Scott got into Stiles' Jeep, and he drove off.
"You guys are definitely not staying in this neighbourhood. My dad won't allow it either. Both of you are staying with me tonight," Stiles said.
Stiles saw as Scott was sitting in the kitchen along with him. They were both drinking coffee. Stiles looked towards the stairs as he headed up to his bedroom. He saw as Lydia had fallen asleep on his bed. He smiled while he took a blanket and threw it over her. he smiled, brushing her hair away, as her eyes slightly fluttered, still staying closed.
"Good night, Lydia," Stiles said kissing her forehead as he headed out.
"She's asleep," Stiles said, plopping down on the couch.
"She's been through a lot and the supernatural world doesn't necessarily have a pause button, Scott said as his phone rang.
What are you still doing awake? Scott asked as Stiles was confused on who he was talking to.
"I heard there was someone you tied you up and held a gun at Lydia Martin. Are you guys okay?" Malia asked.
"Yes, Malia, we're fine," Scott said as Stiles looked at Scott saying the name.
"Stiles and his father came to our rescue. Me and Lydia are spending the night here at their place," Scott said.
"Don't give me such a fright ever again," Malia said as Scott smiled.
"You actually care?" Scott asked as Malia rolled her eyes on the other side of the phone line, which Scott could sense.
"Listen, I gotta go. I'll talk to you tomorrow," Scott said ending the phone call.
"Since when do you and Malia Tate have contact?" Stiles asked as Scott looked at him.
"After Allisons death we slightly started speaking. Seems like they were secretly friends," Scott said.
"Her death must have been hard for her then," Stiles said as Scott nodded.
"Scott, we're good. I made peace a long time ago that me and Malia wouldn't happen. With my very unsure feelings for Lydia, I think Malia is somewhere in my past," Stiles said.
"Stiles, the trick with Lydia is you need to act fast. Not slowly," Scott said.
"Maybe tomorrow I'll tell her. Let's sleep on that," Stiles said.
