AHHH I'M SO SORRY THIS TOOK SO LONG. I'VE BEEN KINDA SAD SO YEAH. IM ALSO SKIPPING THE PART WHERE MAX AND EL INVESTIGATE BILLY BECAUSE I DON'T WANT THIS TO PRACTICALLY BE A MOVIE SCRIPT.
Max, El, and I spent the next couple of days hanging out. One day Max's family seemed to be busy meaning we'd get her house to ourselves. It was the late afternoon when we arrived at the redhead's pale house. Despite the brutal heat lingering in the air I still chose to wear the black leather jacket that Max had bought for me.
"Are you sure you aren't frying to death right now?" El asks as we enter into Max's kitchen. A wave of cool air hits me causing my shoulders to slack in relief.
"I am probably going to get heatstroke, however I might as well die looking cool," I retort with a small smirk. Max laughs at the comment, making me feel like I could float.
We walk into Max's living room. The carpet is a grayish color. There is a small boxy T.V. against the wall with a dark wooden coffee two feet away from it. At the edge of the carpet is a beige couch next to one of those big gray chairs stereotypical dads always reside in. Max opens up a cabinet under the T.V. to reveal several board games.
"Wow you have a lot of games," I say peering at the collection of colorful boxes. Max pulls out one of the games.
"I don't even know why. It's not like we have family game night or anything," The girl sneers while wiping dust off the top of the game.
We spent the afternoon playing Monopoly in Max's living room. By the end of the game Eleven had managed to obtain about half of the properties on the board. I finished the game in second place, still having a few properties. Max, however had approximately two properties and constantly landed on El's, owing her a sum of money.
"Why do you have so many fucking properties?!" Max shouts as her silver thumbtack playing piece landed on yet another one of El's properties. El and I both start laughing at the redhead. Max, not appreciating the taunting, proceeds to push the entire game board off the coffee table.
The three of us erupt in laughter. Playing cards and fake money scatter on the ground as the group of us laugh so hard tears stream down our faces and our stomachs hurt.
It was fun being with friends because everything was ten times more funnier than it should be.
After ten minutes of cleaning and organizing Monopoly we decided to play a different game. Max grabbed a white box with the title "Twister". (😏). I'd heard of the game but I never thought it was super interesting, so I'd never played it.
"How do you play?" I ask as Max lays out the mat. She sets down a spinner with different colored dots, hands, and feet. Eleven also tilts her head to the side as if she were repeating my question. I almost expect to get laughed at for not knowing.
Instead of laughter, Max just simply explains the game. She explains how one person spins the spinner and yells out "left foot on yellow" or "right hand on green". The redhead doesn't make me feel stupid for not knowing like how my old friends and mom do.
"I can spin first," I say while picking up the spinner. Eleven and Max both position themselves next to the white tarp. I flick the dial and watch as it spins around the board.
"Right foot on blue!" I call out and the girls promptly repeat my instruction. We go through this several more times until El ends up loosing her balance and falling on her side.
"Aha! I finally win!" Max shouts so loud I'm afraid the neighbors heard us. I laugh as Max takes time to fix the wrinkled mat. Eleven walks towards me and I hand her the cardboard dial. I walk up to the edge of the mat and Max stands to my left.
