6 Months Later

It's been the best six months of my life. I've moved in with Patrick and Ella and have been happy ever since. As I'm cleaning the kitchen after we've had dinner, my phone rings.

"Hello?"

"Olivia, a little birdie has told me you've moved on."

The sound of that voice makes my stomach drop.

"How do you know that?"

"It doesn't matter. All that matters is I'm out of jail so be careful." After he says that, he hangs up. I drop my phone on the ground and panic. Patrick still doesn't know about Shawn and I don't want him to.

"Patrick!"

"What's wrong babe?"

"Nothing I was just wondering if maybe it would be okay if I have a girls night tomorrow night. Abby, Emma, Lindsey and I were thinking about going out." I introduced Lindsey to Abby and Emma after about a month of knowing her. They instantly became friends.

"Yeah sure that's fine."

"Thanks so much," I respond kissing him.
I send Emma, Abby and Lindsey a text telling them to meet me at the Chicago Grille tomorrow night at 7. Not even five minutes later they all respond saying okay. I need to get my mind off Shawn and relieve some stress. Tomorrow night couldn't come any faster.

I arrive at the grille at exactly 7. Abby, Emma and Lindsey already have a table for four inside. I enter the restaurant and find them in the corner. I walk towards them and sit down.

"Hello ladies."

"Hey girl what's up?" Lindsey asks.

"Nothing much. Sorry this was so last minute but I really need to talk to you guys." I told Lindsey about Shawn a while ago because I felt like I could trust her. And I can.

"Shawn is out of jail. He called me last night."

Abby, Emma and Lindsey are speechless. They don't say a word and just stare at me.

"Are you kidding?" Abby asks.

"Unfortunately not."

"Oh my god. Well we're here if you need us," Lindsey's states.

"I know that. I just thought you all should know. I can't stay long I gotta make sure Shawn doesn't find where Patrick lives," I respond nervously.

We eat the rest of our dinner in peace and I completely forget about Shawn. I check my phone and realize I've stayed too late. I say good night to the girls and drive home as quickly as I can. I don't know why I'm so worried but I have this knot in my stomach and it's not a good one. I arrive to what I now call home, and open the garage. I hear yelling and screaming. That can't be good. The two voices sound like man voices and I could recognize them anywhere. Patrick and Shawn. I dial 911 before I enter the house. I turn the knob on the door before pushing it open and all the voices stop. Without hesitation, I burst through the door and stop in the middle of the doorway. My heart stops and I'm frozen. There's a gun pointed at me.

"Shawn whatever you're about to do, stop. Think about this."

"Shut up Olivia. You deserve to feel the pain I felt from sitting in jail and finding out that you've moved on."

"Olivia how the hell do you know him?" Patrick asks angrily.

"Patrick please just listen to me. I-"

"SHUT UP! IF YOU DONT SHUT UP I WILL SHOOT ALL OF YOU!"

"Shawn the police are on their way. Think about what you're doing."

"You called the police?" he asks now pointing the gun at Patrick who is holding Ella.

"No! I did they're on the phone right now!"

"What the hell. That's it I'll be back don't think this is the last of me," he says. Before he leaves he stands in front of me with his gun. He hits me over the head so the butt of the gun smacks against my forehead. I fall to the ground screeching in pain. Shawn runs out the door before the police can arrive to arrest him. I slowly get up with the help of Patrick.

"Olivia. You need to tell me what the hell is going on."

"That's my abusive ex-boyfriend Shawn."

"You told me you didn't have any ex-boyfriends."

"I said that because I didn't want you to worry about me and I didn't want you to ever meet him."

"Well clearly I've met him."

"I know and I'm so-" I start to choke up before I can finish my sentence. I start to bawl my eyes out and shake.

"I'm so sorry," I manage to say in between my sobs. Patrick just holds me in his strong, muscular arms until I calm down.

"I have an idea. Why don't we leave Ella at my parents house until this psycho is caught." I just nod my head and wipe my eyes with the back of my hand.

"And we can go out to eat tomorrow night so we can sort of clear out minds." Patrick says while brushing the hair out of my face. He takes my hand into his and uses his other to lift my chin so my eyes meet his.

"I wish you told me about him. I understand why you didn't but no more secrets okay pretty girl. You could of had me and Ella killed."

"I know and I'm so sorry I never meant for anyone to get hurt I swear I'm so sorry. Patrick I don't know what else to-"

"Relax Olivia I believe you. I know you would never want any of this to happen. Just because you have a crazy jealous abusive ex-boyfriend you didn't tell me about doesn't mean I don't love you any less," he says as he kisses me on the forehead.

I lean into his chest sniffling and trying to calm down. The police arrive but it's already too late. Shawn is gone and out of sight. Patrick goes outside and explains to the police what just happened while I'm still in the house. I'm shaking and crying uncontrollably. I can't help but blame myself for everything that just happened. As soon as I'm calm enough to walk, Patrick and I go up to bed. Before we enter our room we check in on Ella in her new room with a big girl bed. She's fast a sleep and safe. Thank god. I don't think she under stood what just happened.

Patrick and I go into the city for dinner the next night. We dropped Ella off before we went out to eat. As we are driving around the city to find a restaurant, Patrick is talking to me the whole ride. I don't understand what he is saying because I've sort of blocked him out. I'm trying to focus on my train of thought and process everything. From Shawn being out of jail to almost killing my loved ones and from me lying to Patrick all these months.

"Olivia? Olivia are you okay?"

"Huh?"

"We don't have to go out tonight if you don't want."

"No baby I do I'm sorry I've just been thinking. I'm glad we're going out tonight. We need this."

"Yeah we do. I love you so much pretty girl and look we are here."

We park along the sidewalk with a parking meter right in front of the bar we met at. We enter the bar and sit down at the exact spot we met. I start to tear up and Patrick sees that. He pulls me towards him and puts my face in his hands. He presses his lips to mine and kisses me over and over. When he finally pulls away he smiles that goofy smile that I love. We spend the rest of the night drinking, laughing, talking and having fun. When we pay the bill we are both craving ice cream from across the street. Patrick and I look both ways before crossing the road. We walk hand in hand until I see a car come speeding down the road and not stopping. There's not enough time for both of us to make it across and I'm closer to the oncoming car. I let go of Patricks hand and use all my strength to push him away from the car.

"Patrick move!" I screamed.

Those were the last words I said before being struck by the speeding vehicle.

"Olivia! Olivia please! Baby wake up! Olivia wake up!" I hear Patrick scream at the top of his lungs. "Somebody call 911!"

I hear faint sirens coming from the direction the speeding car was. But that's the last thing I hear.
