"You knew and didn't think to tell me!"
"You just got back and I didn't want you to hear it from me because it's not my place to tell it's Patricks and I didn't want to get involved and I could of sworn she was living in Cali."
"I need to talk to Patrick." I leave the apartment and drive towards our house. I pull in the garage and walk through the door. I grab Ella from the living room and bring her upstairs. I place her on her bed and tell her to play in her room for a bit. I meet Patrick in the kitchen and he just stares at me blankly. It almost looks like he's been crying. I cross my arms over my chest and look down at the kitchen floor.
"Can we please talk," he finally manages to say to break the silence.
"You lied to me," I whisper.
"Please let me explain."
"If I let you explain, everything that comes out of your mouth and I mean everything, will be the truth because if it's not I'm walking out the door and never coming back."
"Okay."
"When did you meet Catie?"
"I told you the night after you left-"
"Patrick! That's your only warning I know you didn't meet her then! Now tell me the god damn truth!"
"About two years ago. We met at a bar in Vancouver. I was there for an away game and she was in the bar with a 'Kane' shirt. We talked, drank, laughed and had fun. We got really drunk and I went home with her."
"Is that all?"
"That's the night I got her pregnant."
"With Ella?"
"Yes. I paid her to not tell anyone so the paparazzi wouldn't twist anything. Every one thinks that I adopted Gabriella when she was a baby. Catie didn't want custody of the baby. She said she wasn't ready to be a mom and threatened to put Ella in foster care if I didn't take custody. So I figured I would do the right thing and raise her. Now Catie wants custody of Ella and I refuse to let her because I love Ella. She's my daughter and I don't want to lose her."
"You told everyone she's adopted?!"
"That's what you got out of everything I just said?"
"Of course it is! No one knows that Ella is your BIOLOGICAL daughter! And you think taking custody is gonna make everything better!?"
"Look I wanna tell everyone that she is my daughter but-"
"No. No buts you are telling everyone. You are going to make a public statement so everyone knows. And I'll take care of Catie. In case you forgot, I'm the best lawyer in Chicago."
"Olivia do you forgive me?"
"Honestly Patrick, I don't know. I think it's stupid that you wouldn't own up to having a daughter and lied to me for almost a year now about it. And slept with her after I left. Yeah that makes me feel great."
"I'm sorry."
"Yeah I've realized."
"Is there anything else you wanna ask me?"
I think about asking him if it's true, that he doesn't love me but I quickly get that thought out of my head.
"No. Not right now."
"Seriously Liv, what's wrong?"
"It's just-"
"What?" Patrick asks eagerly.
"Do you love me? Have you always loved me?"
"What kind of question is that?"
"Well it's just Catie told me you told her you've never loved me when you guys were having a 'night to remember'."
