Just a Slow Day

It was a cold day in New York but the streets remain crowded. Things at the 1-6 were currently calm but they all knew that at any moment that could change. Olivia decided that she would take this as a chance to grab herself a coffee and a bite to eat. Walking towards the elevator she looked around and noticed Fin sitting at his desk deep in thought.

"I'll be back Fin! I'm going to the café on the corner. Do you want anything?"

"No thanks Captain!" He said.

She paused, not able to shake the feeling that something was up. Not wanting to look too much into it she left for the café before anything could stop her.

Once she got to the café she ordered her usual coffee but decided that she should get something to eat so she wasn't just running on coffee for the whole day. She decided to get a plain bagel with cream cheese. Once she had her order she made her way back to the 1-6.

Getting off the elevator she walked in to see Fin was no longer at his desk, in fact she didn't see any of her subordinates. She decided to call and see where everyone was when she remembered that everyone but Fin was in court testifying. Fin must have just stepped out for lunch or he was in the cribs. She decided to just go to her office and eat while looking through files to sign off on.

Later that day everyone started to file in. Fin had returned from lunch about an hour after Liv got back. Muncy and Valasco made their ways to their desks. Right as they sat down the phone rang, Fin picked it up. After a few moments he sighed and said that he would send someone right over. He hung up and made his way to the captain's office.

Walking in Fin had a look that Olivia was able to read and she didn't like the ache that she got in her lower stomach. "We have a vic at Mercy. They said she's reluctant to talk and it pretty banged up." He told the captain. Liv looked up removing her glasses and pinching the bridge of her nose. "So much for a quiet day." She said, "Send Muncy and Valasco." Fin nodded and walked out telling the 2 junior detectives the case and where they were going.

Walking back into the office Fin looked at Liv. He knew she had been struggling since Amanda had left. He would never admit it but he had too. The 3 of them were pretty close, they were family.

Fin finally asked the question he had been wanting to ask for weeks. "Liv, do you wanna talk about it?"

She looked up with glossy tear filled eyes. Trying to blink them back she simply looked up at him and shook her head. She knew if she did then she wouldn't be able to stop to flow of tears and she couldn't let her walls crumble at work. Regaining her composure she finally responded to Fin.

"I'm fine." Was all she had said before looking back at the paperwork in front of her.

Fin knew better than to push his captain too much so he left it at that for now. However in the back of his mind he knew she wasn't fine, he was also the only one who knew why.
