It was nearing 5 o'clock at this point and Liv didn't know if she would be able to be cooped up in her office for another hour. She decided to call it a day and started grabbing her bag. Putting files in it as she walked towards the door. She knew she wouldn't actually look at them tonight but it couldn't hurt to take them.
Walking out into the bullpen she looked at everyone with their noses down working on paperwork. Clearing her throat she announced that she was going home and that they all should too once they finished whatever they were working on. She then made her way to the elevator.
Having just finished the file he had Fin made a be line for the Captain. Hoping if he got her alone she would open up and he would be able to help her. He was able to get to the elevator right as the doors started to close. He was relieved when it was just the 2 of them.
"So I know you said you were fine earlier but you know as well as I do that that was a load of bull. So let's try that again. Do you wanna talk about it?"
Not surprised by how persistent her Sergeant was being, Liv took a deep breath and turned to face Fin. "I'm not fine but I'm going home to see Noah so I will be fine. Thank you for your concern but don't worry about me." With that the elevator doors opened and she stepped out.
Staying on her heels Fin got her attention again. "Liv I'll drop it for now if you promise me one thing!"
Stopping she turned to him, "And what's that?"
Walking close he began to speak, "Promise me that you will call me if you get to a point where you aren't fine, I know I'm not them but I can sure try to be at least half as supportive."
With a small smile of appreciation she nods her head. "I promise."
They parted ways after that. She started the walk towards her place. The weather had only gotten chillier since she had went for coffee earlier in the day. Walking up the steps to her building she paused. Gathering herself before she continued into the building. The warmth that hit her in the face as she stepped inside took her breath away. Finally walking up to her door and putting the key in she couldn't help but smile as she heard laughter on the other side of the door. She quietly shut the door and put her things down. Sneaking into the living room to see what was going on she saw Noah and Lucy in the floor having a tickle war. Lucy obviously had the upper hand but decided to let Noah get her down to tickle her while calling truce.
Not able to hold back any longer Olivia started to laugh making the other 2 in the room aware of her presence. Noah bolted towards her with a smile so bright it could light up the sky. She bent down to his level and he hit her so hard it knocked her on her butt. It was now Lucy's turn to laugh at them.
Once she was up and Noah was playing with his toys she thanked Lucy and headed back to the living room with Noah. After sitting on the couch watching him play for a bit she asked him what he wanted for dinner and in true Noah fashion he wanted pancakes. Liv asked him if there was anything else he would rather have and that she would make pancakes for breakfast in the morning. Noah decided that he wanted spaghetti.
Liv went to the kitchen to begin cooking when her phone went off. Dreading that it would be another case she slowly took a breath and answered the phone.
"Benson" she said.
The person on the other end was one she was hoping not to hear from until tomorrow morning. "Just checking in again Captain!" Fin said.
"Fin I told you I'm fine. I'm making dinner for Noah and myself as we speak. Nothing has changed since we talked an hour or so ago."
"Sorry Captain. I just don't like seeing you so down ya know! If the tables were turned you would be doing exactly what I'm doing right now, and we both know that!"
Knowing that her Sergeant was right Liv took a deep breath. "I know Fin. I really appreciate you. I hope you know that!"
"I know Captain. I promise not to call you again tonight but I mean it when I say you can call me if you need anything."
"Thanks Fin! I'll talk to you tomorrow." With that she hung up the phone and went back to making the spaghetti.
It wasn't long before she and Noah were sitting at the table eating. Once they were through she gave him a bath and put him to bed. It was now around 9 o'clock and she decided to have a glass of wine, relax, then shower. Around 10 she decided she better go to bed.
As promised the next morning she woke up and made pancakes for Noah. Once Lucy got there to watch Noah, Liv left her apartment and headed for the 1-6. She was silently hoping to get there before everyone so she could close herself in her office until they got a case.
