When I wake up in the morning I feel different. It was a good different. I felt no stress, no bad thoughts, I felt absolutely amazing. The smell of fresh pancakes fills my nose as I make my way downstairs. Last night I was crying and telling my mom everything. She completely understood me. She told me she regretted having sex with my father, but in the end she had Nate, then me. She said Jared was an accident but he was a good accident, and he was. I love Jared with all my heart. He's my little brother and I have to look out for him.
"Well good morning honey." My mom says as I enter the kitchen.
"Morning." I say looking around and sitting down next to Jared who was dressed and ready for school. I swear this kid always has school.
"Do you feel any better?" My mom asks me. I nod and she hands me a plate with two pancakes already buttered with syrup on them. I take a bite and let the heavenly food fill my mouth. I missed my mom's pancakes. They're the best.
"Do you want me to take you to school?" I ask Jared.
"It's okay. Nick is picking me up today." He tells me.
"Who's Nick?" I ask him.
"A kid from biking." He says as he puts his empty plate in the sink.
"Biking?" I ask my mom.
"He convinced me to let him do dirt biking. With those small motorcycles." I nod and take another bite.
"Have you had any races yet?"
"No. But there is one this weekend." He says grabbing his backpack.
"Well I'll be there." I say patting his back as he passes me to go brush his teeth. "Are you able to go?" I ask my mom. She has always been busy because of her job which makes it hard for her to get to anything that we have going on.
"I'm trying, but I have this trip I have to go on this weekend. I'm trying to get out of it." She says. I can tell she's upset because her eyes are getting teary. My mom works so hard for us and she want to be there to support us, but her job restricts her from doing so.
"It's okay. I'll get some videos and pictures for you." I say smiling. She comes over to me and kisses my head.
"What would I do without you?" She asks.
"I should be saying the same. Thank you so much for letting me stay here. I just feel like I'm disappointing you."
"Oh honey you could never disappoint me. Everything you do you have a reason for. Just remember to think before you do it." She says as she walks up to her room to finish getting ready for work.
"Mom! Nick's here!"Jared shouts as he opens the front door.
"Ok! Have a good day at school!" My mom yells from her room.
Soon after Jared leaves I sit in the living room watching TV. I was watching Prison Break, my all time favorite show, when there was a knock at the door. I got up and unlocked the door opening it to reveal someone I don't recognize.
"Hi. Can I help you?" I ask her politely.
"Oh my god Ella." She says staring are me.
"I'm sorry but who are you?" I ask her.
" Ashley Ryder. We use to be best friends." She says. I stare at her long and hard. It was her.
"Oh my god! Come in." I say smiling. We both walk into the kitchen and I offer her something to drink.
"Do you have any Arizona's?" She asks me. I nod and smile. She loved Arizona tea. She had one before every game. That was her so called "energy drink."
"So what are you doing back here?" I ask her.
"I decided to move out here. I loved Omaha so much. The experiences I had here with you, Gilinsky, and Johnson." She says taking a sip. I nod. All the times we shared were fun. I would be lying if I said I missed her. When we first stopped being friends I was upset. She was the one girl who wasn't afraid of me and she accepted me for who I was. "What about you? I thought you and Gilinsky would have moved in together."
"Well a little while ago I went on tour with him and um...some bad things happened to me. Turns out he got a girlfriend a few days later. Haven't been together since." I tell her as I get another glass of water for myself.
"Oh I'm sorry. I didn't know." She says looking at the bracelets on her wrist.
"Many people don't." I say and look at the bracelets on her wrist. "You kept them." I say smiling. She looks up and notices I'm talking about the bracelets.
"Of course. You were my best friend and Johnson was my first love. My only love in fact."
"Not to be rude, but I thought you cheated on him?" I ask.
"No. We told you guys that because his fans were giving me hate. He told me that you were going to fight me because of that." She says. I laugh then nod.
"Yea sorry about that." She laughs and we sit in a silence. It wasn't weird. It was comfortable.
"I missed having you as a friend." She says after a few minutes.
"I missed you too. I miss having a friend actually." I say and look at my hands.
"What about your friend Sammy? You said he was like your best guy friend pretty much your brother." She asks. I sigh. I did tell her that. I mentioned him while Jack and I were dating. I never had feelings for him while I was dating Jack because I loved him and only him.
"Yea um about him...he and I hooked up one night and-"
"He got you pregnant didn't he?" She asks. I stand there shocked.
"Sorta, but how did you know?" I ask her.
"You look a little bloated, and your boobs are huge." She says taking a sip of her drink. I touch my cheeks.
"I do not!" I say giggling. She smiles.
"We should hang out sometime soon." She suggests and I agree.
"Jared has a race this weekend if you want to come, you could stay the night afterwards." I suggest and she nods.
"Do you still have my number?" She asks and I nod.
"I'll text you." I say as I walk her to the door.
"Okay, and it was really nice talking to you." She says.
"It was."
"I'll see you this weekend." She says waving.
"See you this weekend." I say closing the door.
I think I just got my best friend back in my life. Good things do come out of bad situations.
