I Surrender

I've fought and struggled,
For so long and hard,
But my strength is dwindling,
My willpower scarred.

I've reached the end,
Of my rope and my tether,
I've given all I have,
But my efforts don't seem to matter.

I've lost the will,
To keep up the fight,
The darkness surrounds me,
And the end feels in sight.

I've cried my tears,
And screamed at the sky,
But still, I'm met,
With nothing but a sigh.

So I'll raise the white flag,
And wave it with grace,
I'll surrender to fate,
And step out of this race.
