Never Again

A heart once open, now closed tight,
A girl who cannot love, it's not right.
She's built walls high, a fortress strong,
To keep her feelings locked away and gone.

She's been hurt before, and it took its toll,
Left her with a heart that's lost its soul.
She's afraid to love, to risk it all,
To fall again, and take the fall.

She's happy alone, or so she tells,
But deep inside, a heart still dwells.
A heart that yearns for love once more,
But fear keeps it locked, forevermore.

She's built a life, without the need,
But in her heart, love still takes seed.
She longs to love, to feel it's fire,
But fear keeps her heart, in an endless mire.

So here she is, a heart in chains,
A girl who cannot love again.
But maybe one day, she'll take a chance,
And let love in, and learn to dance.
