First of all, in my opinion, Lorde writes songs amazingly.
For a nineteen-year old, her songs like 'Royals' and 'Tennis Court' and 'Glory and Gore' are quite society-wise and just plain true.
I mean, to be honest, MOST(NOT ALL) musicians and artists right now write songs about drugs and weed and things that get stuck in people's brains because they are known for being wrong. Guys, this is purely opinionated.
Just. . . Lorde actually takes a moment from her teenage life to, like, notice this world around her. And she realizes like 'Heck. People don't go on victorious without blood.' And I just wanna recognize her for that. Some others say her songs are too 'dark' or 'gloomy' for her age, maybe that's true, but the only reason it's 'dark' and 'gloomy' is because the theme and the content and the concept of her song is what it is. That's just it, you know? You could go making songs about drunken sex, but to some people it would sound 'cool' or 'fun' and that's what people like. Songs about those. People don't usually listen to songs about how this society runs itself. And. . . I just think Lorde knows what she's writing.
