RomCom. Honestly, one of my most favorite movie genres.
So, this rant is basically about my top ten favorite romantic comedies. In no particular order.
Okay. LES DO DIS.
No. 1
When In Rome
Okay. So, uh, this is actually one of the first romantic comedies I've watched, and though it received poor reviews from review critics, I actually enjoyed this movie. In my opinion, it was meaningful with a touch of humor, and it was just oozing with romance and this Filipino term we call 'kilig', which means, like, a jolt of rush you feel when you ship a love-team.No. 2
50 First Dates
Ahhh the feels. Drew Barrymore and Adam Sandler just killed it, you know? That videotape he made for her just hit me straight in the feels. Okay, I'm sorry. But, anyway, I really liked this one. I mean, it's just they didn't give up on love, even in spite of the challenges they had to face.No. 3
Just Go With It
Grace, this was hilarious. It was able to balance out the 'romantic' and the 'comedy' just enough, and it generated good laughs and the chemistry was so. . . there. Yup. Just go with it.No. 4
500 Days of Summer
Well, honestly, this one was more of heartbreak, but through it all, it was actually a really good romcom. It was true, and raw. It was there. Director Marc Webb just took the guts of a romantic comedy, mixed and matched technology and music, and boom. Summer. And guess what? The next girl's name is 'Autumn'. Seasons! Whaaaaaat? No. 5
Jerry Maguire
Tom Cruise, darling. Tom Cruise. So this is quite the vintage one, but it was 2am dawn and everyone was sleeping and I watched this and it just wowed me as a romantic comedy.No. 6
Silver Linings Playbook
Honestly, I haven't watched this yet. Call me weird, but I just get this feeling that goes like 'I like it,' in me and I felt that with this, and it was beautifully made how they fell in love in what would become a playbook with silver linings of happiness.No. 7
Music and Lyrics
Drew Barrymore again, folks! Baby, I seriously will never forget this romcom. It hit me straight in the feels, and the music, and the love, and wow. I mean, it just amazed me how lyrics turned into music and music turned into attraction and into the whole enchilada called love. And it's better than it looks.No. 8
Notting Hill
Actually, my dad introduced me to this, and since we were both movie fanatics, then I was like, 'Yeah, okay, why not?' So I was a bit hesitant at first, but as the movie progressed, it proved me wrong. I got a good laugh inside ten minutes, and the scriptwriting and direction and everything was properly patterned and connected and yeah. . . A great romantic comedy.No. 9
Failure to Launch
Matthew McConaughey and Sarah Jessica Parker. Oh and Zooey Deschanel(from 500 Days of Summer, no.4) too. My dad and I(again) actually enjoyed this one. Though it was poorly received by critics(I mean, come on. They're critics! They hardly ever give good ratings to romcoms. They give good reviews to depressing war movies.), it actually held a lesson within the storyline itself. It had a dash of intelligence and a touch of drama. It gave a fair share of good laughs. It had enough romance to spice up certain chemistries.No. 10
Friends with Benefits
This one stars Justin Timberlake and Mila Kunis. This may be relatable to some people out there. Though the storyline was quite common, it still can bring you to emotions like frustration and joy while watching. It's romantically comedic and comedically romantic enough to be called a romantic comedy.
