•Lilian's POV•

"Shhh, I hear the car," Laura whisper yelled.

"He's coming, get down," I say ducking behind the island in my kitchen.

Today is a very special day...

Chase's birthday!!!

January 3rd, he's officially eighteen.

We planned this whole surprise party over the past few days.

He's having a family birthday this weekend instead of today since he had practice and his parent's work, just made more sense that way.

The guys have practice today till six thirty, it's six forty now. Shawn and Tyler were tasked with distracting him in case we needed more time to set up.

They also had to find an excuse to get all three of them to my house after practice.

Dad was yet again out with April, they're doing really good apparently. I'm just glad he's happy.

I don't mind being alone in the evenings when they go out, I usually do homework, watch a movie or do some self-care stuff, face masks etc...

"Quick get the lights," Laura whispers to V who was closest to the switch. She runs up flicking it off quickly.

I adjust my shirt, making sure it's sitting in right.

"Is that my shirt!?" Laura whispered questioning me.

"Nooo," yes...

I may have borrowed it last time I was at her house.

"Huh, sure. It looks better on you anyway-I still want it back," she clarifies.

The front door opens and we hear the guys shuffle in.

"Why are we here?" Chase asked.

"Just need to pick something up, it'll be quick," Tyler said.

"Do you think Lili's home?" Chase asked out loud to no one in particular.

"Doesn't look like it?" I heard Shawn say.

"Shit, the door was unlocked, do you think someone got in just as we did?" Chase worried.

They literally just need to take fifteen steps this way to see us.

"I'm sure it's fine," Shawn reassures him.

"I'm going to Lili's room to check," Chase said running up the stairs. Just in time for Tyler to come back from wherever he was.

"Where's he going?" I heard him ask Shawn.

"Thinks someone broke in cuz the door wasn't locked, he wanted to check that Lili wasn't actually home and is not currently lying dead upstairs," Shawn explains.
