The day started pretty early in Boo Yongju's home. It was only past six in the morning and yet Oh Myungsim had already cooked a light breakfast for everyone.
She was in the middle of brewing coffee when Ye-rin showed up in the kitchen, looking like she barely slept. The older woman gave a tired smile to Myungsim and blamed jet lag.
Ye-rin was going to get herself some coffee but Myungsim asked her to sit and let her do it for her. The nurse insisted that Ye-rin was their guest and so she should act like one. Ye-rin laughed out loud at the demand but at the same time, she was really touched at her sister-in-law's hospitality. The older woman once again internally congratulated her brother for picking a wonderful woman to marry.
The women were quietly discussing their plans for the day when Yongju finally sauntered in the kitchen, freshly showered and casually dressed for work. He walked past his older sister and squeezed the older woman's shoulder in greeting.
Myungsim tried her best not to tense up and smiled at Yongju when their eyes met. The doctor sported a small smile at the corner of his lips and winked at Myungsim as he made his way to his trusted coffee machine. He made himself a cup then walked towards the table to sit with the women.
Before he did, he made sure to walk past Myungsim and planted a kiss at the woman's head in greeting. The nurse was caught off guard but pretended like the gesture was something he'd been doing for years.
Ye-rin looked at the couple and smiled lovingly at them, truly ecstatic that her brother found someone to spend the rest of his life with, and more importantly, someone who was willing to tolerate his mood and general peculiarness. The older woman snickered at the thought.
The three of them discussed their plans for the day. Ye-rin didn't really want to do a lot of sightseeing because it's not like there was much to see. The town was pretty small and other than local shops, only the casino stood out. Ye-rin for sure didn't want to go to the casino, but she did want to visit a couple of shops at the center of the town. Myungsim agreed to accompany her, and then Ye-rin asked that they visit the lake and just walk around. All these plans were set to start around lunch time so Ye-rin would still have a few hours to try and force herself to get some sleep. She knew she needed it if she wanted to actually be able to enjoy their afternoon plans.
Myungsim, thankfully, was on her rest day so she had no problem spending the day with Ye-rin. It was a little nerve wracking but she knew they'd be fine. She did like the older woman and they got along pretty well, so she didn't mind showing her around. She thought she might as well enjoy the day and really get into the groove of playing Ye-rin's sister-in-law. She uttered a silent prayer that the woman wouldn't ask any more personal questions or anything about her supposed marriage, or suggest once again that they go to the US to get pregnant. She also fervently hoped they wouldn't run into anyone she knew.
Yongju wouldn't be able to join them until later that evening where they agreed to have dinner at the ramyeon house again. He would be needed at Doldam to discuss a couple of things with President Yeo and also, he'd be the main help in the ER today alongside the young residents and Dr. Bae. Dr. Jeong's wife and mother-in-law were also in town so he asked if he could have a day off and be back by evening. Kim Sabu agreed, which was to his benefit as well, truly not wanting to spend the entire day with his sister. He did feel bad that he left Myungsim to deal with his sister but he figured they'd be fine talking about women things, whatever it was women usually talked about. He couldn't be bothered, really.
One thing that was bothering him, however, was his relationship (or lack thereof) with Myungsim. He did some serious thinking last night and he finally made a decision. He only hoped he was right in his assumption regarding Myungsim's feelings towards him. Regardless, he decided he would talk to the nurse tonight.
