"Have you spoken with her?"
Yongju shook his head no and then poured himself another shot of Soju. "I haven't–I'm still waiting for the right moment,"
"Right moment should have been yesterday," Nam Do-il smirked. "Your sister will be here by next week–you shouldn't wait any longer if you want this to work,"
Yongju eyed him with annoyance, "Thanks for reminding me–it's not like I forget about my stupidity, you know?" he hissed and rubbed his face with his hand in frustration.
"That's why I asked Oh Myungsim to join us–she'd be here soon,"
And as if she was summoned, Oh Myungsim sauntered inside Do-il's tiny Ramyeon house. Boo Yongju didn't have enough time to react or even smack some sense into Do-il. Before he managed to gather enough wit, the nurse was already seated in front of him, gave both men a warm smile, and took Yongju's shot of Soju.
"Ahhh–I needed that," Myungsim exclaimed and wiped the side of her mouth. "So what's the important thing you need to tell me, Kim Sabu?"
Yongju clenched his jaw and kicked Do-il under the table. The anesthesiologist opened his mouth to protest but stopped when he noticed the menacing look Kim Sabu was directing at him. He figured he needed to leave the two alone so Kim Sabu would be less embarrassed, at least, in admitting his blunder.
"I'm gonna let you two talk for a bit and check on the broth I'm making,"
Kim Sabu didn't respond but instead gave him a snarky look. Oh Myungsim, still oblivious to the tension between the two men, just gave him a nod and a smile.
When Do-il's back was completely turned, Myungsim asked, "What is it, Kim Sabu?"
Yongju looked at Myungsim, trying to formulate the best way to tell the nurse of the current situation he–they–were in.
The doctor took another shot of Soju before he began. "My sister is coming to town next week–"
"I didn't know you have a sister," Myungsim gasped.
"I do–" and she's such a pain in the butt, he mused. "--and as I was saying, she's visiting next week, and more than that, she's been pestering me, wanting to introduce me to someone–some woman–because she thinks I'm lonely and old and I should finally settle down–"
Myungsim laughed out loud, "I like her already!" she chortled and took another shot of soju.
"Oh you just wait–" Yongju muttered, "--so I got fed up and told her that I'm already married–"
"You did what?!" Myungsim blurted.
"I told her that I'm already married–" he repeated and scratched his forehead.
"But you're not married, right?"
Yongju shook his head no. "I told her I'm already married with a woman I'm working with at Doldam–"
"Nooo–"
"I told her that I'm already married to you," he mumbled, looking guilty as ever.
Myungsim's jaw dropped. She couldn't believe what she just heard. What on earth?!
"Why would you tell her that?!" Myungsim demanded, her pitch just went a couple of notches higher.
Yongju motioned for her to calm down and explained the entirety of what happened, how annoying his sister was, and also apologized for letting his temper run with his mouth. He couldn't take it back anymore because this was his older sister, and also, he really didn't want to be introduced to anyone because he's happy with his life at Doldam. Having a partner wasn't something he wanted at this point in his life. He figured a little fib would shut his sister up. Until things got out of hand.
