The rain tapped against the window as you waited for your lover to come home. The scent of freshly made tea and homemade bread filled your tiny quaint home alongside the chill from the weather just outside the windows.
The plush blanket over your shoulders were drawn in together tightly from either corner of the fabric in the attempt to warm yourself up. You had just started a fire in your fireplace not too long ago and you desperately awaited for the warmth to invite itself into your home.
"Where could he be?" It was hard for him to visit but he tried his best. He didn't want anyone to know of you and so far, it was a success. When you initially heard that he wanted to place you somewhere safe after hearing you were bearing his child, you were angry and saddened. Even understanding why he wanted to, you fought him on it many times before, until you just couldn't. It had become too dangerous.
It had gotten lonely many times throughout the months but as mentioned before, he did his best with visiting you. His way of keeping you happy unfortunately were bags upon bags of gifts. Clothes, jewelry, perfumes and makeup. None of it made up for his presence and involvement in your life, especially during such a vital time. Not just for you but for him as well. He was expecting a child too. You wanted him to be there for the journey more often than he was. However, what were you supposed to do? If it didn't cause you or your child harm, you accepted it.
Realizing the sky had only gotten darker, you concluded that he wouldn't be able to make it this evening. Your bottom lip quivered as you fought back tears. What you would give to feel his embrace tonight. This had actually been the longest you haven't seen him. It's been about a month and a half. It hurt every single day.
You retreated into the comfort of your large bed. Made for 2 but only occupying 1. The heaviness in your heart made you shut your eyes tightly, fighting back tears once more. Hopefully, it would be just one more night.

The sound of breaking glass startled you awake, causing you to sit up immediately in your bed. The rain was louder now that your window was broken. The cold air whistled its way in through the hole in your window. Your worried eyes watched the window silently, too frozen in fear to attempt to run away.
A hand pushed its way through the broken window, unlocking it from the inside. With a gasp, you tried your best to move as fast as you can off of your bed and to your front door but to your dismay, you felt a cold wet hand grab your arm. Turning your head, you saw an unknown man. His grin showed him baring dirty unkempt teeth and a patchy beard that grew underneath his chin. He smelled of alcohol and blood. A cold wave washed over your body as you tried to wriggle your way out of his grip.
"Now now, behave and we won't hurt you." Heavy footsteps were heard from the other side of your bedroom door. With a loud burst, the door broke open and in walked 3 more men. All large and intimidating by looks.
"What do you want with me?" Your tiny voice was like a squeak from a mouse underneath its predators claws. It was entertaining and even cute for the pirates to hear. A laugh bellowed out from all 4 men as you wondered what they planned to do with you.
"What an innocent gal! I bet Doffy found this one in a cherub garden!" They laughed more as millions of thoughts raced in your panicked mind.
"Let's get her out of here." The only thing you could think of doing was biting the hand that had a grip on you. Maybe it wasn't the smartest thing to do but it was done. The click of his tongue was heard as he grunted and threw you to the floor. You made sure to not land too hard, covering your stomach. One of the men noticed this and it made his eyes twinkle in a devious way.
