Kakuzu retuned with a bundle of sticks in his arms. Hidan still under the mask. Once the creature saw him it stood on all fours and moved off of him. It had a clumsy walk, the strings weren't lose but they were being held together by chakra so they were moving around, almost jiggling as if it was made of real fat. It made its was to its master, then plopped down beside him.
Hidan sat up, not even bothering to talk. He just glared over at the older, who was busy building a ti-pi. Kakuzu had soon seen his angry gaze. He sat down and patted the spot to the right of him. Hidan obeyed and sat with his sizzling temper still high. Kakuzu looked at the knot, knowing it was too tiny to untie by hand. He leaned down, pressing his lips against his cheek, kissing him. He pulled the knot out with his teeth.
Hidan crossed his arms. "A kiss isn't gonna making up to me, you old fuck." He grumbled, small droplets of blood trailed down to upper lip, and down his chin. Kakuzu huffed. "You are lucky I didn't just leave you like that." The smaller didn't respond, he just remained an angry quiet.
The mask, who had been watching them fight, was staring at Hidan. Kakuzu noticed his stringed beast gaze. The fire mask looked up at it's master, its empty, drawn eyes then traced back to the silver haired man. "You can go to him if you want." He stated. The heart wiggled up and made its way to the angry lump of boney flesh. It dropped its plump body down beside him and sat its head on Hidans lap. Hidan flinched. "O-oi! Kakuzu, get this little fucker off of m-" The monster cut him off by pushing him to the ground. It pressed angrily against his chest with its little paw hands. "Off." Kakuzu order and the creature happily obeyed.
Kakuzu open Hidans sweater revealing his torso, the bandages still tightly wrapped against him. "The fuck are you doing." Hidan sneered. "I'm making sure your dressing didn't come undone." Kakuzu said coldly. Hidan glared. "It's probably fucking fine." Hidan hissed, sitting up. He left the sweater unzipped as he looked up at the sky, only to see that it's covered by leaves. The trees wanted everything, even the sky.
The big stringed monster laid its head on Hidans legs again, rolling over on its back. It's legs tucked tightly to its body, and it's tree trunk neck molded around his thigh. The heart seemed to be peaceful and happy, despite its mask not changing. Hidan slowly began to scratch its neck. The creature wiggled around, as if it's body was a seal. Unsure if the beast liked it or not he moved his arm away, only to get snatched by the tiny little raccoon hands. "I think it likes me." Hidan muttered, letting it bring his fingers back to his throat. He pet from right below the neck to the very end of the sternum, or where the sternum would have been.
Kakuzu didn't respond, he just gazed into the crackling fire. Hidan sat silent for a moment. "A-are you... upset with something?" He finally said. He wondered if it was whatever happened earlier, or maybe it was something he did. His mind started chasing after everything he did wrong. "No." Kakuzu said quietly. "Is it because..." Hidana voice left him for a moment. "...is it because almost I killed you?" The heart looked up, noticing that it was no longer being pet. It didn't understand what was happening around it, but it felt like it was not a good time to ask for attention. "No, you can't get mad at a dog for barking, and you can't get mad at an idiot for being stupid." Kakuzu answered. Hidan thought about what he said for second, then his eyes shot open. "Oi! The fuck does that mean, you old dick?!" He fought.
The heart had enough, he shoved Hidan on the ground, and began to press against his chest like a cat to make him be quiet. Hidan growled, but there was no reason to hurt the sentient yarn ball. Once Hidan had calmed he got off of the skinny body and laid across his lap.
Kakuzu sighed, pulling Hidans head to his shoulder, and gently started playing with his hair. "I'm not mad at you. I just acted without thinking." His nails started shifting through the knots that the silver stands had gotten into. "So this is about earlier?" Hidan said, closing his eyes. The masked monster slide forward, its head resting on Kakuzu, and its stomach on Hidan. Kakuzu nodded. "Will you.. tell me what you did?" He asked, listening to the loud sounds of the forest, making him feel uneasy. "No, just forget about it." Hidan felt like he was being locked out of a room. "If you mad at me? If your pissed you can tell me. What did I do?" Hidan opened his eyes, glancing up with pale pink disks. He pulled his pendant out of his pocket and started fiddling with it. "I told you I'm not mad, I just left a trail." Kakuzu explained. Hidans eyes widened. "So you did something stupid this time." He giggled. "Yeah." The elder answered, his eyes feeling heavy.
The two went quiet for a bit, the world around them as noisy as ever. "Do you like my hair like this or when it was shorter?" Hidan asked. "It's up to you. I have no say." Was his unsatisfactory answer. "Come on, you make the choice!" Kakuzu rolled his eyes. "I can't choose for you." Hidan stuck his lower lip out and pouted. "Fucking fine." He puffed.
The three sat in silence, cuddling each other. For once the dangerous world of the forest didn't seem so bad. Nature was as greedy as ever, but for once it didn't touch them.
