Chapter 8: 8 years later

Jills POV:
It's been 8 years. 8 years since the dead rose. Since I lost my mom, my dad, my brother, and others who I've known. Hey I'm Jill smith. For this Im telling my point of view in this chapter.
Im 17 years old and I've been at the Charlington shelter for a while. I work as a security guard there and also help getting material. I have a cousin and a care taker. My cousin is Tycho. He was my uncles son. He tragically died after he got bit after having Tycho. My care taker, Jax, she does help with security but helps mainly with teaching the kids helping to survive and get material.
I have an aunt. Their name is Jace. But they left 8 years ago to find somewhere and they said they'll come back. Im still waiting but I hope I'm not gonna lose hope.

At Charlington, Jill is walking down and making sure everyone is alright
Jill heads into the lumber Jack area
"Hey Aaron. How's everything?" Jill asked Aaron
"Oh it's going all good Jill. Just getting stuff ready. Summers around the corner." Aaron replied back
"Hey you seen Tycho around?"
"Oh he's at the cafeteria getting lunch."
"Thank you."
Jill then leaves to the cafeteria and sees Tycho eating lunch
"Hey Tyke, why are you eating by yourself? You can always invite me for lunch!" Jill says sitting next to him
"I wanted too but you were busy and I don't wanna bother you and Jax." Tycho said
"Well it doesn't matter if we are busy or not. We are a family and we stick together.."
"Yeah.." Tycho then takes out a photo of Pascal and Jace
"Can you tell me how my mom and dad were?"
"Well they are amazing people and very smart. Pascal worked in the science and is a astronomer while Jace is a paranormal worker and studied the afterlife. Jace I just hope they are still out there.. I'm not giving up hope yet." Jill said
"I don't want too either but.. we may have too."
"Yeah.."
"Hey! Why haven't y'all told me about our lunch break?" Jax walks in, from painting
"Jax!" Both of them said and they all hugged
"Aww thanks guys.." Jax smiles
"Jax.. I miss my parents.." Tycho then begins to cry

Looking at my cousin crying.. I try my best to not cry because I don't wanna look weak or anything but some moments like these. It's alright to cry.

"Same as Well.. I miss my parents and my brother." Jill said crying
"Aww come on guys.. group crying hug." Jax said, pulling them both in
"I miss someone too.. Sadie and Roger. Sadie was my girlfriend and then Roger was my boyfriend and they are both gone too.."
They all began to cry
"We must stay strong and try to stick together. Even if we are busy here." Jill said
Then a siren is blaring
"Huh?!" Tycho said scared
"What's going on??" A citizen explains
Jill rushes up to the deck where the other security guards are and sees a hoard of walkers
"Oh my god!" Jill said
"We need to evacuate!" One security guard said
"Alright!" The other guy said
"Also kill some of them as well while everyone evacuates." Jill said
"JILL!!!!" Tycho screamed
He is fixing to be surrounded by them
"TYCHO!" Jill jumps down from the deck and shoots the zombie and protects Tycho
"Don't worry I'm here!" Jill said
"Alright.." Tycho said, scared
Jax then rushes to them
"We need to run!"
"But where?! There's no exit really!"
"Not really! I found one and people are escaping through there. Come on!" Jax said
They all three ran and killed a couple walkers out of the way and then go to the exit and they all ran to the woods

It's starting to get dark
Jill, Tycho and Jax are sitting at abandoned mini camp site with the fire on
"I can't believe.. 8 years of staying there and now we had to leave." Tycho said
"And we couldn't get supplies while this happened." Jill said
"Hey.. why don't I look for some. I know i can find something." Jax said
"Alright well.. just keep in contact with the walkie talkie." Jill said
"I will." Jax said as they got up and left to look for supplies
"Hey Jill, could you teach me how to defend myself?"
Tycho asked
"Sure why not. Let's have a lesson here." Jill said smiling and they got up
Jill gets a gun and gently hands it to Tycho
"Be careful. Alright so I want to hold the gun straight." Jill said
"Alright." Tycho said as he holds the gun straight "Don't push the trigger hard or anything. A slight push of the trigger can trigger it." Jill said
"And when your aiming, close one eye and you got it!"
"Wow.. thanks Jill!" He hugs her
"Aww your welcome. But still be careful with it."
Tycho hands the gun back to Jill and they smile
All of a sudden they hear talking
"We better go see who it is." Jill said
Tycho nods and they head to see where the noises is coming from and they see Jax being surrounded by 3 people at an entrance to a school building
"So, why are you here?" One girl asked Jax
"I just need some food and supplies. Please I have two kids I'm taking care of." Jax said
"Where are they?" The other guy asked
"At the abandoned camp. We looked and nothing was there."
"Huh you sure we can trust you?" The other guy asked
"Yes please!"
"Cmon let's go and help Jax." Jill said
"Alright.." Tycho and Jill walked to where Jax is
"Hey it's us. We are with her and we need supplies."
"Oh good. You weren't lying." The other girl said.
"Hey what's going on here?" Someone said as they walked towards them
Jill, Jax, and Tychos eyes widen as soon as they see the person
"I never thought I'd see you again.." Jill said in shock
