Rhys's POV

I was at the house still watching Gideon. This was so unfair. I just had to stay here and protect Fern. Nobody had to leave the house except Ezekiel. The only hunter who was allowed to bring back food. Everyone else had to see to our guests. They know where everything is at. They can watch themselves.

All of this was dreadful. "Hey brother" said Neoma from above the steps. I turned to find her walking towards me. "Can you keep a secret" she whispered in my ear. I looked at her curiously. "Yes" I said knowing what's behind her smile. "This is so boring" she said as she had a smile on her face.

I could always agree with one of my sisters. Even though she is adopted I never would have seen us be this close. I mean we are close in age so that could be it. "I wish we could leave this lame party" said Neoma. "You have to wear a dress" I said knowing it.

"Yes" she said overreacted with envy on her tongue. It was the worst thing in the world for her. She is glad where the world has come to from the past ten thousand years. She hated to wear corsets and big dresses. That's why she is more punk and emo when it comes to her distinct personality in style.

I don't see how she is comfortable with all the chains she wears and Demi jean jackets. She always has a crimson red top. I can't see anyone else pulling off her outfits. They are too rock girl clothes for me. She is the rebel in the family so it suits her perfectly.

I mean she never really did fit in with the other girl vampires. She has been trying to avoid Melantha. She does set up arrangements and the last thing she does is want to be married. She normally says "hello people we are living in the twenty first generation." There it is right on time. I was correct on the timing.

"It is best to be married" said Eleora as she appeared beside us. "Ugh" said Neoma unpleasantly. I watched as they both rolled their eyes. "I was having a good moment" said Neoma. They both glared at each other like they both do everyday. I took a deep breath ready to intervene.

"Girls" I hear our mom say angrily. Us three looked at her knowing that we got caught when they we're fighting. "What happened" said Gideon as he stood beside my mom with a smirk on his face. "Two vampires that are not following the rules" mom said. We all had our heads down to show her respect.

"Sorry" said Neoma as she looked at the ground. "We apologize for being insensitive and inappropriate behavior" said Eleora. We watched as our mother bowed her head. "Don't make me snap at you both again" said our mom in a threatening tone.

She walked away and Eleora followed behind her. We all liked it better when Eleora was head of the household instead of mom. We were able to get our jobs done with Eleora. With mom all we ever do is something wrong that she has to fix right away.

There is always a problem when she comes back home. She is organized but the bad thing is that she is a control freak. Everything has to be perfect even when it already is. She likes to be confusing. We already have the nicest house here in this tiny town.

I don't know what else she expects from the rest of us. Everyone is drowning their fangs into blood bags. It took a lot of time and effort for us to steal and they are being sucked until there is nothing left. The last drop of blood was taken. How could these vampires be so rude when they are taking out food source.

They want to be respected but I can't even give them my respect. They want me to hand them everything on a silver platter. As if it is ready for the taking. They have done so much to deserve it. All lies that my mother tells us so we aren't angry at them.

We know what they have done. None of them are perfect. I mean look at Clove who keeps wanting my attention. We all know what happened and she is imaged to be the golden girl of all vampires. Aidric still thinks Dahlia is the best match for me. He can't even see past her rosy cheeks and batted eyelashes.

You think after living so long that vampires will come with wisdom. Truth is whoever told you that is wrong. Just look at all the vampire movie and shows. Each one is still unlike the last. Even the story about vampires are wrong in even books.

I'm just glad to get all these emotions out by writing poetry. It helps me collect my thoughts. It's the best pair for me. I just wish Fern was here so I can read them to her. She had become of poetry at least. I say only my poetry which makes me feel even special.

How could I not see this as a compliment. We both have peace when we are together. He two of us see the beauty right in front of us. The nature is unlike any other environment. If only others could experience it with the two of us. It would be nice.

Too bad that the world doesn't work that way doesn't mean that we are alone. Me and Fern like to be alone in our own comfortable silence. It makes our presence more enjoyable. I couldn't stop thinking about her. I really am a love sick puppy.

"I hate these parties" said Neoma as she looked annoyed. I looked at her as I was pulled from my thoughts. She had her hands in fists as she walked past me. "I'm coming your majesties" said Neoma in a upset mood. I laughed at her and continued to help out the vampire council.
