Fern's POV
After I made a fool of myself in class the bell rang and I was walking beside Alieen. I was totally embarrassed by zoning out like that. I needed to know what this feeling was. I just day dreamed about our wedding. What else could be going on.
I turned to Alieen since she may know what's going on. "Hey Alieen can I talk to you about something" I said as I took her hand in mine after she said "sure." We went around the corner in the hallway. It was crowded but we were able to talk freely.
I never liked putting myself out there but here goes nothing. "Let me guess it's about Rhys" said Alieen. I nodded my head but I was still in shock of how she found out. Was I that obvious when we were talking earlier. "How did you know" I said nervously. "I saw you write his name in your journal" said Alieen.
She said that with a little bit of excitement. "I kinda thought you liked him but today proved that" said Alieen. I looked at her with disbelief. "You two don't even look at each other. All the signs are there" she said to me. I didn't really believe it.
"I can't even talk to him" I said as I rubbed my arm nervously. "Well why couldn't you" said Alieen. "I'm too shy" I said to her. "There is still no reason to why a girl shouldn't tell a guy she likes him" said Alieen. I didn't know what to believe after that. "But what if he doesn't feel the same way I do" I told her.
"I clearly don't know how strongly I feel about him" I said to Alieen. She thought for a good second until she said "you won't know until you ask him." I had to agree with her because I know she is right. Why did this have to become so hard. I played nervously with my fingers when we talked about this.
It was very unsettling to think about. "I mean you are right" I told her with honesty. I stayed quiet for a minute as I kept playing with my hands. "What if you find out if he likes me. I know you guys are friends" I asked her. "I can try" said Alieen. I thanked her for going through the trouble of finding out this just for me. I wanted to know so bad.
"I will see what I can do" said Alieen sounding confident. I grace her a hug since this was going to be a lot of work for her. I just hope she was able to find the answers for all of this. I am so scared and I do have a feeling that I do like Rhys. Maybe this is the answer to everything.
Alieen's PoV. Midnight hour
I was outside Rhys's bedroom being as quiet as I possibly can. I was using inhuman senses to help guide me. I knew that feeding time was almost over. The run that everyone went on will be coming home soon. I didn't have a lot of time to snoop around.
I needed to help my new friend. Maybe this can be the answers to our problems. Rhys never protected anyone before. This had to be a sign for something. Maybe the elders will know what to do. I heard the clock strike twelve. I didn't have that much longer.
I opened the door and I walked inside. I had to be conspicuous. I walked from his bedside towards a desk that I know he starts his days here. I found a poem talking about admiration. I knew that the last word could only rhyme with Fern.
"I do yet admire, this is all but fine.
I wish I could leave it behind.
Just to have it shrivel up and die.
I have to say goodbye.
Before my last breath of the midnight sky.
To you a owe in return, my precious..." I read aloud.I couldn't believe how he had written a poem like this for her. Just then I heard the door about to open. I didn't think I would have time to hide. I put the poem down as quickly as possible. I used my animal like behavior to get me into a hiding place out side of his window.
"Oh hey Dean I think Daisy is going on the hunt next time" said Rhys. I sighed and I jumped out of the second floor window. Nobody would have seen me out this late. I walked back into the house for feeding time. I quickly made my way back towards the front of the house. I walked through the front door.
I couldn't believe I did it. I looked upstairs and I saw Rhys covered in blood. He walked into his room. I sighed knowing that I wouldn't be caught for something like that. "Hey where did you go" said Talon. "I just came downstairs" I said with a smile.
"We'll come on it's time to eat" said Talon as I heard a little hiss come from his mouth. He put his arms around me as he lead me to the table in the dining room. Everything was set up beautifully. I saw Daisy help with the dishes as she brought them out.
She was setting up the table. I knew that Fern was going to be happy about the news but I don't know what everyone else will think. She can be the answers to our problem if the elders find out. I looked at Rhys who had a new clothes on that didn't have blood stains on them.
I wanted to know what he was planning. Rhys walked in with a big grin on his face. We we're all hungry from the nights we had no meals. Tonight we will feast until we drop. I stayed next to Daisy and Dean as they stood next to each other after he walked in. Who knows what will happen now.
