Chapter 17: Disaster

The Mario Party ended around 7:30, with Echo coming first, me in second, Amelie in third, and Genji in fourth. I won't be able to tell you how these events happened now. Echo cheered as I landed face flat on the floor. Genji unleashed an evil laugh as he was one of the main reasons Echo won.

"I am glad we just had fun," She murmured.

"See? That's the kind of thing I'm talking about," Echo laughed. 

"YEAH, ECHO, YOU ONLY SAID THAT WHEN YOU WERE IN FIRST!" I yelled.

"It's the rule. If they are in first place, only they can enjoy the game," Echo cheered.

The explosion of emotion occurred for another minute before it finally calmed down. Echo talked me into making some chicken alfredo before Genji and Amelie left. While Genji meditated, I prepared the food, and the girls chatted about girl stuff. The alfredo took around 20 minutes to make, and the result was outstanding. And what seemed more pleasing to see than Echo smiling was Amelie smiling instead. But it did spark a question of mine, as Amelie seemed more overjoyed and sad rather than just happy.

"What's wrong, Amelie?" I asked.

"Oh, it's nothing. I've been preparing hot meals since Overwatch brought me here, but I've tasted nothing like this since my time with Gérard. You're cooking reminds me of him, and... well, I'm thankful for your kindness," Widowmaker said, smiling. 

"I appreciate the help," I responded, smiling as I ate my food. 

The dinner went on for another 30 minutes before someone knocked on my door. I walked over and opened the door, revealing Sojourn. 

"Good evening, commander," I greeted.

"Evening to you too, Ben. It's time for Amelie to be back now. It's getting late, and she has another meeting with Angela tomorrow morning," She said.

Amelie sighed as she got up from the table and placed her dishes in the sink, followed soon after by Genji. Genji walked with Amelie to the doorframe to leave, but Amelie made one last turn to Echo and me. 

"Thank you for the meal; I highly appreciate it," she smirked. 

"It was our pleasure," Echo said with a bow. 

Amelie smiled again before walking out with Sojourn, followed soon after by Genji after he gave me a bro hug. The door closed, leaving me and Echo alone once more. Echo sighed as I slumped down onto the couch Echo whirled in the air, chirping calmly. I stretched as Echo glided peacefully to my side, lying down as she sighed. 

"So, how about that win?"

"GAH!" I shouted, throwing Echo over as she hollered again. 

"I'm just being cheeky; stop being so mad," she giggled. 

I growled in frustration., but I eventually calmed down and listened to her as she wrapped her arms around me. I chuckled and kissed his forehead. 

"I'm glad you're by my side," Echo purred. 

"I couldn't be happier for the same thing," I sighed. "I wish Doctor Liao were here," I murmured.

"Me too. She'd love to see us together like this," Echo replied as she nuzzled underneath my neck. 

I sighed once more before picking Echo up by the legs and walking to my bedroom, causing her to giggle. We jumped onto the bed and snuggled once more with the occasional peck and kiss. The urges rose high, but I kept myself at bay, and so did Echo. 

"We have to stop acting like this," I laughed sarcastically. 

"Don't want to get in trouble now, don't we?" Echo asked while pointing up.
