"Woah, this is weird. I can feel my body but everything is black. I wonder if I'm dead? What's that noise? Someone crying? I hope they're ok. I guess I can try to open my eyes." He thought.

His eyes felt like they were glued shut as he tried to lift them. He tried three more times, finally opening them on the third. He squinted at the bright light and looked around, seeing white everywhere. He looked around at the room and saw Johnny, fast asleep on a chair with tear stains on his cheeks.

"Poor Johnny, he doesn't deserve to be sad he's too sweet for that." He thought, keeping his gaze on the sleeping boy.

"My throat hurts, a lot. I wonder why? Why am I here anyway? I dunno I'll ask Johnny, maybe he'll know."

"Hey, Johnny?" He croaked out.

Johnnys head shot up and tears streamed down his face once again. He jumped onto Dal and hugged him tight. He was surprised, but hugged back.

"What happened?" Dallas asked innocently.

"You p-passed out and they took you to the hospital and they said you hadn't eaten enough and your stomach shrunk so the doctors gave you a feeding tube but your body didn't react well because your stomach was too small." Johnny said in between sobs.

"I-I was so scared I thought I lost you.."

It finally clicked in Dallas's brain that someone cared for him. Johnny did.

"Where is the rest of the gang?" He asked, petting Johnny's hair.

"Work, school, and I don't know where two-bit is." He replied.

Dally nodded in response. Johnny got off of him and sat in the big chair next to his bed.

"I'm gonna call the nurse in to tell her your awake." Johnny said, pressing the red call button on the wall.

The nurse walked in a few moments later with her clipboard. She saw he was awake and wrote something down.

"When can I leave this place," Dal asked, in a not so friendly voice.

"You should be able to leave tomorrow as long as your stomach continues to handle the food well."

"Alright, now get outa here." Dallas said making a shoo motion with his hand.

The nurse left with a scowl on her face and left the door open.

"I'm gonna phone Darry and Soda to tell them you woke up." Johnny said, walking out into the hall where the phone was.

He watched Johnny go out the door and thought about the hug. He smiled to himself and closed his eyes, imagining the sweet boy.

"I wonder if Johnny and I will ever be a thing? Well I do know he cares about me, so that's a start. He's so adorable! I wish I could hug him every second of my life. "

His heart rate sped up and two doctors rushed into the room. Their white coats swishing with their walking patterns as the rushed to his side.

What he didn't see was Johnny rush in behind them to see what was happening.

"Are you feeling ok, sir?" On of them asked.

Dallas smiled, "I'm just thinkin about someone I love, screw off. Im fine."

The doctors accepted his answer, and left just as quick as they came in. Johnny scurried out the door with them in hopes Dal didn't see him.

Johnny finished the last call to Ponyboys school and walked back in.

"What was that about?" He asked Dal.

"Oh, nothin. I think my heart rate quickened too much." Dallas replied.
