ᅳ➳☓♡ᅳTuk stepped back a few meters, shell in hand. Letting out a cool breath as her brows creased, she thought to herself; this had to be perfect. So, it will be.
Tuk then sprinted to the edge and let out a shout, hurling the shell even further than her older brother had. The group shouted out cheers as Ao'nung and Ta'liyah dove themselves into the waters.
The tension had been suffocating. The group began to chatter about the whole ordeal and waited in high anticipation for one of the twos victory.
Ao'nung was right in front of Ta'liyah. He had more of an advantage; he was bigger, stronger, his Metkayina features could triple the size of hers.
But that didn't matter, what mattered was the fact that Ta'liyah needed to retrieve that shell and surface.
Nothing else.
A sly gleam made its way onto Taliyah's features. It'll only be fair to..
With one quick tug, Ta'liyah pulled onto the older boy's tail, immediately causing him to lose his composure as his ears spiked.
She then tugged at his ankle and launched herself forwards and toward the submerging seashell.
Ao'nung bit back a curse.
Ta'liyah viced the shell in her hand and shot him a falsely innocent eyed sly smile. The girl then used the ocean's floor to shoot herself up.
Blinking, as if dazed, Ao'nung regained himself.
Grabbing onto some coral, ignoring the sharp grazes it caused. He lurched himself towards the conceitful girl.
No way in hell was he going to let that slide.
He took hold of the girls' ankle and instantly dragged her down to him.
More so on accident, Ao'nung then clutched his other hand around the girl's soft inner thigh, causing her to let out a water-choked cry from the sudden touch as her own ears spiked.
Ta'liyah lost her grasp on the shell and with a disarranged flushed look she slapped her now free hand over his, causing him to let go.
Honestly, he had only meant to grab at her knee. But the girl's reaction had caused a stir inside himself.
With his other hold still on her ankle, he felt his arm get tugged, the girl reached out for the shell, regaining her claim. Ta'liyah then jerked her ankle out of his weak grasp, and began gliding up.
Ao'nung struck himself out from his own stupor, inwardly scolding himself. He had to stop losing himself.
The surface was coming into view, he could see a few heads poking into the waters. Wasting no more time, Ao'nung regained a grasp over the girl's ankle, dragging her down, once again.
Now face-to-face with each other.
Both their eyes avidly filled with rivalry and thrill.
Ta'liyah tried to shove him away with her free hand. But it was no use as Ao'nung slid a hand along the girl's defensive arm and over her firm wrist, then clasped her closed hand in his, attempting to free the shell from her tight hold.
He did what he had to do. At least, that's what he told himself when he used his other hand to 'lightly' yank the girl's long hair, causing her to break the tight hold.
His fingers then dug into her open agitated palm.
He swiped the seashell from her grasp. Granting her a smug smirk as his eyes lit up with amusement. Then he shot himself up and away from the bemused girl.
Her heart began to pace, she couldn't lose. Not now, not after he'd chosen to drop Tsireya over her and announced it as a definite win.
Not after what he'd just pulled.
With one last move the girl latched onto his ankle. However, she wasn't strong enough to drag him down just as he did her. She thought of something else.
She used her grasp over his ankle to launch herself forwards along his body, her chest met his. Ao'nung looked down, seemingly startled by the interaction. But Ta'liyah had no more time to waste, cutting the brief tense eye contact.
She then placed a hand over his left lean shoulder and pushed herself further up, gliding herself up along his form, snatching the shell from his faltered grasp.
Shooting herself up and out of the surface. Her sharp ears were then filled with cheers and taunts from the exhilarated surfaced group.
Ta'liyah coughed out water as she gasped for air, her arm held high, shell in hand.
Ao'nung surfaced in front of her. Jaw set. His dazed blue eyes solely on hers. The gaze was dark but it held no coldness.
The expression left Ta'liyah a little puzzled. But her attention was then snatched away from Tuk and Neteyam as they splashed themselves into the waters in celebration and swam towards her.
Honestly, after everything, Ao'nung didn't care that he'd lost. The competition was over yet his heart continued to hammer itself against his chest. His body felt rigid and.. flushed.
The rest of the group followed forth to celebrate. Throwing themselves into the waters as they cheered around the victorious girl who was now being carried on Neteyams' shoulders, her face flushed as she held onto him.
There it was, again. That feeling. Familiar it was now. It burned throughout his mind and body.
He needed to get away.
Tsireya seemed to catch on. Her bright celebrative expression morphed into a silent plead as her eyes met her brother.
Ao'nung faced away and with a sharp breath he signaled for his Ilu, submerging himself into the waters.
He was gone.
Ta'liyah gazed down at the now empty space in the water with furrowed brows and a hidden pout.
Once again, she'd thought it'd be different.. That he'd stay.
Honestly, besides the whole aggressive tussle; some part of her thought they had both been having fun and now she had actually wanted him to stay.
Her mother's comforting words rung through her mind.
