"Ao'nung..?"

Her voice had always been his favorite sound, it was no wonder why he was now dreaming of it.

He groaned, muttering gibberish in response.

"Ao'nung." A much deeper voice that unmistakably belonged to his father struck the young boy out of his peaceful slumber.

Ao'nungs' eyes shot open and he was greeted with a pair of precious blues.

He knew the owner of those eyes instantly, his nose almost touching hers.

The small girl's curious expression morphed into a suspicious dirty look, "Why are you blushing?" She blurted out in a skeptical tone.

His fathers' loud chuckle could be heard in the back.

"I'm not!" Ao'nung scoffed, a flushed scowl overtook his features as he scooted himself further from the girl who had been hovering over him.

Ta'liyah stood herself up, glaring at him. "Mhmm, then why is your face so pink!?" Her brows knitted as she crossed her arms.

"It's not!" Ao'nung stood up, wanting to change the subject. "Why are you here?" He asked, already knowing the answer.

The girl shot him an are-you-stupid? look.

"What were you dreaming of?" She pressed, ignoring his words. Her eyes gleamed sadistically.

Ao'nung groaned, looking at his bystanding father for help.

Tonowari merely shrugged, exiting the Marui with a whistle, a smile stretched along his face at the betrayed glare his son had shot him.

Ta'liyah clicked her tongue, placing her hands on her hips.  "Ok. Whatever, we have to go!"

"Huh?" The boy was confused as he scratched the back of his neck. Lessons had been canceled and the two had planned to spend the whole day together but there wasn't a need to rush. "Go where?"

"My mama ran out of tea herbs!" Ta'liyah answered, her face slightly contorted, "We have to get her more and then we can have the whole day to ourselves!" She beamed, not giving the boy time to respond as she wrapped a hand over his wrist and dragged him along with her.

The two children then ran out of the Marui together and towards the garden forest.

They passed a few Metkayina Na'vi who would greet the both of them as they continued to their destination.

Ta'liyah would always stop to sweetly greet each of them back, which led Ao'nung to sometimes become impatient and want to flip his hand over her wrist and drag the girl away.

Finally reaching their destination the two children were met with a large variety of trees & bushes that all were fully blossomed.

Their noses became enriched with the strong scents that flourished from throughout the beautiful garden.

Ta'liyah then released her hold over the boys' wrist which Ao'nung did his best not to frown over.

"My mama says she only needs lavenders, lemon balm.. and a bit of mint." The girl smiled, as she placed a woven pouch in the boy's expecting hands.

"I can do mint too." Ao'nung stated, eyeing the small woven pouch that hung around the girl's waist.

The two have done this plenty of times before and his favorite was always the mint. He already knew the girl liked lavender the most.

"Ok.." Ta'liyah mumbled, a little hesitant. "Just.. not too much this time ok?" She said, a funny smile brushed on her face.

The memory of the boy handing her bewildered mama an overflowing pouch of mint flashed through her mind.

Ao'nung scowled, "I know." He also remembered the memory and hid his embarrassment with a huff.

Ta'liyah handed him the small pouch and with that the two children then hurriedly separated.

"Mama!" Ta'liyah called out as she and Ao'nung walked together hand in hand towards her Marui.

Anahera poked her head out from the open entrance, her eyes brightened up by seeing the two children nearing with full pouches of herbs.

Ta'liyah released her hold on the boy as she began running towards her mother, "Mama!" She held out her arms as her mother knelt down to hug her. "Me and Ao'nung finished collecting the herbs for you."

Anahera gaze flew towards the young Metkayina heir. Ao'nung always felt a strange warmth wash over him whenever his friends' mothers' kind and loving eyes would gaze over him.

Anahera stretched out her arms even more, inviting the boy into the embrace. With an unable to be contained small smile he trotted over and swung his arm around the two.

Anahera soon backed away, patting the two children on their heads as she smiled with closed eyes.
"Thank you both, dearly!" She cooed, as the two children placed their pouches inside the Marui.

"Anytime." Ao'nung spoke in a forced formal tone which earned him a teasing nudge from Ta'liyah.

"Mama, do you need anything else?" Ta'liyah asked as she tilted her head with hands behind her back. Her and Ao'nung felt more than happy to do another task that involved helping the older woman as they waited patiently for the answer.

"You've both done enough," Anahera dismissed, she then walked inside the Marui and grabbed out a small freshly packed basket that was filled with all kinds of sweet fruits and delights. "Since you both have this whole beautiful day to yourselves, I've packed you both lunch!"

Ao'nungs' eyes went wide with thankfulness beyond belief as Ta'liyah took the basket and thanked her mother profusely.

Anahera waved her hand to tone down her dearest daughters' grateful words.

"And for you, I'd like to thank you personally for taking such good care of my daughter, here's something sweet," Anahera quickly placed a warm cup of sweet minty herbal tea into the boys' hands.

The whiff of mint tickly blessed his sense of smell. "No.. it's nothing really." He murmured, slightly taken aback by the womans' continuous acts of kindness.

"Oh, please!" Anahera smiled, teasingly. "My little Ta'liyah is very fortunate to have a friend as smart and strong as you! not to mention very handsome-"

"Mama!" Ta'liyah exclaimed, a wistful blush spread across her light blue cheeks from her mothers' wordplay, the boy seemed to replicate the expression.

Anahera shot her daughter a teasing smile and sighed, "Well, I wouldn't want to keep you two from your planned adventures, off you both go now!" She sang, watching her daughter bolt away, but the boy seemed to have other plans as he stood rooted.

"..Thank you," Ao'nung whispered, thoughtfully. "I'm also very lucky to have Tali as a friend." He bowed his head respectfully before carefully departing.

Anaheras' heart grew warm as she watched the two kids walk away hand in hand. She couldn't wait until her husband returned home so she could tell him all about the adorable little encounter.

Present time

The childhood memory had almost knocked Ao'nung down as he and a few other Metkayina teens rushed through the forest gardens with loud laughs and taunts.

Running from a group of warriors they'd just pissed off.

He gazed above, watching the large moons and diverse stars overtake the dark sky, allowing the winds to carry him.
