Adrianna

I'm never drinking again. Ever.

I have my knees to my chest as I lay my face down on the couch as I have my arms wrapped around my stomach. "My head fucking hurts, Harry..." I groan.

All I hear is a meow from Harry as he sits on the coffee table. "Thanks for the wonderful support."

He meows again and runs off. But I notice something on the coffee table. Something underneath the mug.

I move over to the floor and I pick up the mug, looking inside and seeing water. I pick up the note and read it.

"I'm coming to think you are a lightweight, Ms. Clarke. I don't think you'll remember but I'm the one who came inside and laid you down, and that's how you got home. I'm guessing you'll have a hangover when you wake up so I suggest you take some medicine and drink lots of water. You may skip work today but it's, of course, up to you. Hope your hangover won't be too tough on you. - Elliot."

"Should I skip work, Harry?" I look over at Harry eating his food.

I stand up. And quickly realize–I didn't pour any food for him though.

I grab the cup of water and drink it all the way down, the dryness in my throat already cured. I walk over to Harry and I lay down on the cold wooden floor beside him as he eats his food. "Did Elliot give you food, hm?" I murmur, brushing Harry's head.

He stops eating and leans his head into my hand, rubbing his head back and forth on my hand. I leave Harry alone as I turn over and look out the window.

I see two blank canvas leaning on my window, the cloudy grey sky with rain drops streaming down my window. Suddenly I remember Elliot's words when he was taking me home.

His words had made me all complicated. I am the only one left to decide what's going to happen.

I've decided that I'll skip work today and do some painting today. I get ready and put on a long coat with some jeans and headed out to get supplies.

I put on my headphones that has been with me since high school and I just play music as I get down to the lobby.

There was an art shop near here, it was sort of in an ally where its mostly hidden. It was ran by this old man, Mickey, that I had met as I was looking outside of the window.

When I first arrived in Boston and it was my first day in Boston, I was walking wherever my two feet had taken me and it led me to this old art shop. I remember it was a cold and rainy day like today. Back then I was so young but I'm still the same, just a little bit older.

That day, I had my thick bangs with my headphones in my ear as I was listening to piano music as it was the only thing I didn't hate to listen at that moment.

I was wearing a black hoodie that was way too big on me with the same old leggings I wore for two years with a white scarf that my sister had given me before it was the last time we saw each other. With my hair in a messy bun after moving my moving boxes into my new apartment.

Mickey had seen me through the window that day and welcomed me inside and gave me free paint, paint brushes, and a canvas.

I reminded him of his lover, apparently. His lover's name was Leon.

Mickey had a husband that he married, once he turned the age of twenty. His parents were against on who he was, especially his step-mother.

And Leon's family were firmly against it, too.

So they ran away to Boston and stared out the window of this very same art shop.

But the person who had owned the shop was an old lady. She was stubborn, snappy, and bold but she let them in because the old lady saw something in them.
