Walt's Mistake

      Chapter 7

     Walt runs through the under brush the branches snagging in his fur. He keep running his paws thuding softly against  the ground. Walt has made it to the boundary line. He rises his head and sniffs. ROGUE'S. He doesn't  buy that there just passing through. He going to listen in on their conversations. Once  he has the proof he will personally  run them. And Ryan away from their territory. He makes sure he is down wind so they don't catch his sent.
      It makes his blood boil to remember the meeting two days ago. How he stood with his sister and their pack members. Acting as if he knew nothing of Rogue's at the borders. Walt pushes it aside for now he needs his wits. "Danny, how much longer do you think we can stay here?" Someone asks.
      Walt couldn't  see them but he could hear them. "We should only stay another week than leave. There is tenchion between us and the Blue Moon pack. We have an agreement  with the Alph. That as long we stay at the borders they wouldn't  attack us." said Danny. Walt snorts in anger. His father is under the impression that Ryan is a harmless wolf that has scars from his past.
    Walt thinks he spun a tail to his parents to get sypathy from them. That's how he became apart of the pack. For all the luck the world he had to be Bonnie's  mate. He loves his sister with all his heart why couldn't be someone  originally from the pack. But it had to be a rogue that wormed into the lives of everyone he loves.
    He crawls closer making sure to stay down wind. "We should not have to leave so soon we've been running for months. Why can't we ask to stay Danny?" Someone asks. Walt hears the snap of logs breaking apart in the fire. So far all they have said points to what the Alph told us. This put a positive light on Ryan. He refuses  to believe that rogue isn't  lying  to them.
   On the  air you could smell young wolf's. They were untrained  you could hear them coming from a mile away. Just great what are these knuckleheads up to. He could also faintly smell alcohol. Walt looks towards the tree  line. Four teenage boy's  and a girl stumbles  out wearing shirts and shorts. Walt scoots back to the tree line and shifts back to human form. Then grab a pair of short  hidden under a fall tree.
    Walt keeps down wind not wanting to spook the rogue or the drunk teenager's. He keeps low to the groud. There is five of them. He knows them they are alway's  making trouble. Tyler walks foward a little wobbly. He swaying side to to side. "You need get away from our territory now." shouts Tyler. Hic. Terry stumbles  forward into Tyler. He falls backwards  land's on his butt he giggles. "We have an agreement  will Alph Luis. That as long as we stay at borders we can rest here." said Danny. Walt finally sees Danny he is and tall brown hair dude with bulging  muscles. Some others come to stand around him all standing in defense  stances.
    Ben turns pukes in the bushes. Tony walks towards Danny with staggering steps. Joe looks more clear headed. "You have thirty minutes to clear out then we make you." said Joe. Danny tenses so do the others. The tenchion  between them is getting thicker.
    Walt better step in before this mess gets out of control. He walks forward making noise so they know he is there. The boys look at him in alarm. Danny and his group looks releaved. The boy's  look at each other then look at Walt with hope.
    "Walt, want to help us run these rogue's off our territory?" ask Joe. Walt schools  his features  so they couldn't  see what he is thinking. They were going about this the wrong way. Danny and others are not doing anything but resting. He was wrong that is hard pill to swallow. "No, what your going to do is shift go back to the pack house. We're the Luna will be waiting  to question you about how you got alcohol. But first your going to aplogiz to Danny and his pack for disturbing them." said Walt. The boy's had there heads hanging in shame. "We are sorry for disturbing  you."  said the trouble maker's.
    "Mom, I have the usually  trouble  makers headed your way. They have been drinking. They have been harassing the rogue's trying to chase them away from our territory. I'm smoothing things over now." said Walt. "Ok son. When you get back I want to know want you where doing out that way. In the first place." said Zoey. He isn't looking forward to that. The guys turn walk in to the trees you could hear the faint sound of bones snaping.
   Walt faces Danny to see him staring at him with curiosity and mistrust. "You just happened to be in the area. Did you?" said Danny. Walt glares at him with repressed anger. This rogue is pushing his buttons. "No just keeping an eye out for trouble. Came to make sure you were toeing the line. And happened to stop drunk teenager's  from starting a war." commented Walt.
   "We're following the rules to the letter. No one has stepped foot on your territory. We will be out your hair in a week. Let’s  keep contact with each other to a minimum." said Danny. Walt couldn't  have said it better. He didn't trust rogue's  but so far this group has been trust wrothy. "Alright, I'll tell the Alph what  happen here and our conversation." said Walt.
    He thinks over his conversation with Danny. As he runs through woods. "Walt, when you get here come to my office. Your mother and have handled the trouble makers accordingly." said Alph Luis. Walt snorts in agitation. He going to bite my head off for being close to the rogue's. When he is close to the pack house he shifts. Walt's canines  shirk back into his gums. His teeth pops up in his  mouth. Then his fur recessed. His spine snaps straight. Walt stand in human form shivering from pain and cold. He goes to the nearest tree. And under its rised roots is a pair of basketball  shorts. He grabs them put them on.
    Then walks to the pack house as he reaches the door. It opens out comes Bonnie closely  followed by Ryan. Bonnie leaps into Walt's arm's. Then bursts into tears. Walt looks at Ryan over Bonnie's head. When Ryan looks at her his eyes soften. Then he looks at me in challenge.
    Walt just holds out a hand to him. He could see that he had surprised  him. Ryan shook his offered hand. Bonnie pulls away then goes into Ryan's waiting arms. She turns to face her brother Ryan's arm's  still around. Her back is against his chest she cradled safely in his arms.
   "Why were you near the border?" asks Bonnie.  Walt looks past them to the stairs to see his mother coming down looking anger. "I was just making sure they were staying at the borders and not trying to move in on our territory." said Walt. Zoey comes straight up to him. And pulled him into a hug. "I'm proud of you for straightening out the mess that those hoodlums caused. Your Dad is waiting for you in his office best not keep him waiting."said Zoey. Walt walks past his mom and sister. Then goes up the stairs till he gets to big oak door. Walt knocks three times. "Enter!"Luis said. He walks in to see his Dad standing facing the window. Looking out at the rising sun. Walt shuts the door walks further into the room. Luis turns to face his son.Who looks back with guilt and shame shining in his eyes. "You did well by the rogue's. But why were near them at all?"asks Alph Luis. Walt looks at him straight  in the eye. "I was just making  sure that we're sticking to what we agreed to. It was luck that I was there to stop those teenager's  from strating a war. The rogue's want as little contact as possible." said Walt. Luis is proud of Walt he has shown he is the son of a Alph. He sits in his chair. " I'm sorry for the way I've been behaving. You have  your own  reason for accepting  Ryan into the pack. I should talk it out with him to find out those reason. Also I owe Bonnie a huge aplogiy." said Walt. Luis knew he already aplogiz to his mother before he came up. He made him scrum enough. "Alright you can go. But no more solo misions." said Luis. Walt nods ok.
    He walks out of the office and into the kitchen. Where his mother, Evelyn, and her mother Stacy. Are preparing  dinner. Ryan sat the bar chopping vegetables while Bonnie is up to her elbows in dow. Ryan looks up and smirks. "Come in here you'll  get robed into helping."  said Ryan. Walt tried but failed  to make a hasty retreat. "Oh no you mister you can help Ryan cut vegetables." said Zoey.
   Accepting his fate he took the stool next to Ryan and began to chop. They worked in silence while the women talked. "Bonnie, sweetie how is your coffee shop doing?" said Stacy. Ryan looks up from chopping to look at who is piling potatoes. "The shop doing just fine. Why do you ask?" said Bonnie. Suddenly  the air is thick with tenchion. "Well my Nick and I were hoping that you would sell it to us. Seeing as you've just  found your mate. You must be thinking of having a family sooner or later. Just thought I'd ask I ment no harm." said Stacy. Ryan could feel Bonnie's  anger from here. And he could see Ryan's  hands shaking with anger. He is griping the knife so hard that his knuckles  are white.
    "Take a deep breath think of something else." Walt whispered. Ryan did as Walt suggested and thought of something else. He took a deep breath then let it out slowly. They then continued chopping the last of the vegetables. Zoey came over got them. "Your free to go now both of you." said Zoey. Walt left without a second thought. Ryan goes to Bonnie she is washing the potatoes off. He put his arms around her waist and rested his cheek against  her's. She relaxes back against him.
      Walt feel a small tug of jealously. He can't  wait to find his mate. Someone to hold when you feel out of place.
  Walt is sitting  the table when Evelyn walks. In with the first dish followed by Bonnie and Ryan. They are both carrying dishes. The table is sit for fifteen people.
    "Mate!Mate! Kevin shouted. Walt stumbles and winches in pain. From Kevin's shouting. Evelyn eyes widen in surprise. She nearly drops the dish she is carrying. "Mate!Mate!" shouts Sarah Evelyn fliches at her wolf's shouting. No way Walt is her mate. He is like a brother to me. Just like I think of Bonnie as a sister. She meets his heated gazes. There is shock and lust in his eyes. She blushes at his heated stare. As the others comes to the table to eat. No one notices the long lingering looks. Between Evelyn and Walt.
     Everyone talks of the increase in patrol and increase in scouting. Once everyone is finished  eating Evelyn's brother's  were told to clean up the dishes. Tommy and Chris mumbled  and grumbled but did as asked. Bonnie and Ryan carried dishes into the kitchen. Then they disappeared. Walt walks back into the dining room to see Evelyn going through the the side door. It leads to the living room and to the stairs. He walks faster he pushes the door aside then half way runs down the hall. Walt catches her at the foot of the stairs. He grabs her arm to stop her from walking away. "Evelyn wait a moment. We need to talk." said Walt. She faces him. Her heart is beating like a drum. She feels the shocks from his touch. Evelyn wants more than anything for Walt to pull her into his arms. And kiss her senseless. Walt looks at her in wonder why had he never noticed how beautiful Evelyn is. "Let go of my arm Walt." said Evelyn. Walt reluctantly let's go of her arm. He already missed the shocks from were they touched. "Were mate's Evelyn we are ment to be to together. We will take it slow and tell everyone when your ready." said Walt . Evelyn looks into his eyes and sees that he speaks the truth. She also sees love in his eyes. "That's reasonable and I'll tell Bonnie myself. Its going to shock her like it shocked us. We will take it slow and get to know each other better." said Evelyn. Walt nods then leaves her standing  at the bottom of the stairs he needs to go for a run.
