Damien POV:

every time i looked up she wasn't there.

a woman with red hair stood behind her desk typing away the work Athena used to do.

it was stupid of me to hire her or to even consider it. i mean who in their right mind would want to hire their ex as a personal assistant.

i was a foolish man to ever think something good would come out of this, to even think that if we had worked together the sparked that had been between us still glowed.

my head spun with thoughts that battled with each other for attention. i had no time to think of something before another situation appeared out of the blue causing a bitch of a migraine to appear into the mix.

a child.

i have a child and all this time i never knew about her.

an urged climbed inside of me to know all about my daughter. what was her favourite colour?

what did she like to eat?
was her favourite colour blue like mine or was it pink like her mothers?
but most importantly what was her name.

the thoughts kept circling my mind until a sudden knock appeared.

my head instantly shot up at the door "come in" i yelled at the person waiting outside.

"sir, Mr grey is wanting to speak with you" laura my new assistant spoke waiting at the threshold.

i couldn't help my eyes rolling once i heard his name. the man has been coming and going into my office more than i could stand.

"i hear congratulations are in order" his voice screeched scraping my mind".

"how so?" i replied raising my head to find him walking towards the chair near my desk.

Laura still remained at the door as she spoke "would you like anything sir or would that be all".

i shook my head with that being her cue to leave before grey decided to open his mouth and spew out more bullshit i didn't want to here.

"they come and go pretty fast" he snorted.

"what do you want" i said returning the conversation.

his eyes met mine "your father has informed me you have a child".

of course he did. my father had to make my business everyone's business no matter what i did, no matter how i acted, everyone had to know everything and anything.

i leaned back onto my chair "is that so" lifting a brow.

"YES!" he boomed his voice in excitement but it was more mixed with fear. "i just wanted to let you know this shouldn't effect our current situation".

there it was.

the obvious reason why he had brought his beer bellied self in here.

to make sure his daughter and i still had a chance at being together so he could crawl his way up on the social ladder and become the man he seems to think he is sitting on that chair right now.

"i don't see why it should" i replied unbothered by his words. it was never my plan to carry out this engagement but for the time being that is what i'll do.

a loud sigh left his mouth "i'm glad we have that sorted and don't worry about Elizabeth she loves children so that shouldn't be a problem" letting out another annoying laugh.

" i'll keep that in mind"

****
i waited outside her house.

Athena and i needed to talk, i needed to know everything and that wasn't going to happen if i carried on ignoring her.

so i waited until the courage inside of me appeared.

not to speak with her but knowing who was inside, that if i opened that door right now a younger version of myself would appear and it was her i didn't want to face.

taking in a deep breath, i slowly got out of the car making my way towards the white door that seemed to watch me take each step.

my eyes landed on the door bell trying to reach for it when all of a sudden the door flew open.

"i'll catch up with you later" a man said his back turned towards inside before turning to find me waiting at the threshold "whew sorry man i didn't see you there" he said "Athena! someones at the door"

"i'm sorry who are you" i asked confused whilst my hands slowly balled into fists at my side.

"i'm a friend" he smiled.

my left brow rose "is that so?"

"who is it, oh-" Athena's voice appeared from behind him "what are you doing here" she said her words becoming quieter.

i cleared my voice preparing the things i wanted to say to her but they seemed to be stuck.

"i came to speak with you" i finally blurted "can i come in"

"wait you two know each other" the man spoke and i wanted to throw him out. what was he still doing here and most importantly who the fuck was he.

"do you mind" i said in a droll tone waiting for him to take the hint.

He stared at me for a moment scanning me up and down and the urge to rip out his eyeballs came to mind.

"right" he said turning to face Athena "i'll speak with you later" before planting a kiss on her forehead and leaving towards what seemed to be his car.

i couldn't take my eyes off the mark he left on her forehead as my hand moved up towards it and wiped it away.

"that's better" i mumbled more to myself as i returned my attention to the woman who stood in front of me.

"we need to talk".

"no we don't" Athena said as she tried closing the door but my foot remained between it.

"yes we do" i urged.

"i came to you wanting to talk and all you did was push me away so why should i bother" she questioned her head tilting to the side as she spoke.

"when you came i was angry and before you say anything i had every right to be and you know that, plus you were a mess nothing would have been sorted out. but now seen as though we are both calm it's the perfect time" giving her a small grin.

Athena sighed for a moment taking in the situation and i wouldn't blame her before she decided to respond.

"fine" she huffed " but you have ten minutes" opening the door.

"thank you"
